anyone with aspergers ever noticed that in exercise activities it is hard to do specific motions correctly? When I do Physical training each morning I always mess up in the smallest of ways on exercises. Also talking and socializing with people is hard because I talk weaker than others. I am military so talking to other military people is hard for me. During basic training I always was viewed by the drill sergeants as stupid but extremely intelligent in tasks that requires brainstorming. they could not understand how someone with a bachelors degree looks stupid. back then I did not even realize I had Aspergers, at least back then I did not know if, i did I could have been discharged because the military does not take people with AS. I am a little afraid of getting caught but all I can do is say I know nothing

I find that to be rather interesting that somebody with AS is in the military. I tried to get into the Marines but they did a medical back ground check on me and found out that I was diagnosed with autistic traits at age 3 so I had no luck getting in since they found out I take medication. As far as athleticism goes, I practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have been doing it for quite a while now. I tend to notice that my technique is not where it should be since I tend to brain fart a lot while rolling with other guys and its really hard for me to drill techniques since the way the instructors teach it is so tedious. Everybody says my technique is really good and I just ended up winning first place in a submission tournament, but there are days where I am completely zoned out and can't really focus on achieving a certain level of adrenaline in my brain. I wonder if having Asperger's deters improvement in certain areas of a person's athleticism.

In some ways AS does make it hard to do certain things. but one of many advantages we have is we can be extremely smart in one thing like history, we could know exact details on a subject. In basic training One thing I like to was outsmart the drill sergeants in history, they found it impressive. anyway the marines are extremely strict on who they take. the branch of military I am in they are not strict.

That sounds like the executive functioning end of dyspraxia - you can do the individual motions, but can not plan the sequence. Personally, I can kick a ball at a target, but fall over or bump into other people trying to play in a team.

I am scheduled for some occupational therapy, which I am told has excellent results. I am 47 and this has only been diagnosed recently as an issue for me, although I have always had good motor skills combined with gross clumsiness, without having a name for it.

Yup. Definitely. The more you practice, though, the better the chance that you'll be able to perfect those movements. Stick to one thing--find an activity that's a good workout for your whole body and learn that.
