Do you tend to ask questions during movies to the annoyance of others? I tend to notice inconsequential information thats unnecessary to the plot like objects in the room or Densel Washington's new teeth, but when dialogue is fast I can't keep up, and its "why is he doing that?" "what did they say" "what did that mean". I can't process all the stuff going on when its complex!

It is often like that with me too, if I cannot keep up with the dialogue I just slip beneath it all and admire the scenary. Or make remarks about the costumes or objects on the movie sets. Sometimes I may notice something strange like an luxury ocean liner on the distant horizon or ainline vapor trails which the annoyance of everyone I point it out to them and that puts them off the plot. Especially if it supposed to be a movie the is set in Ancient Roman times etc. Those clever Romans must invented 747jet liners 2000 years ago. Or was that Hannibal's army? I knew from the history books he had those big jumbos.

I like DVD/VHS because I can stop the show and think about it.

No, and it's people like you that I can't stand. I hate when anyone talks during a film; it distracts me. Things should just be figured out during a film, and if you don't get it, then stop ruining my experiance because of it.

I often must make much effort to understand who's who and what happens. Going alone to the movies there is normally no one i could ask. But I would'nt ask anyway and i always firmly protest if someone in the theatre talks or make some disturbance.

I tend to ask questions during a home movie rather than in a cinema situation I would'nt want to disturb other people, its bad enough when people chew popcorn!

I experience the same things and appreciate the fact that I've got a remote on hand when I watch on DVD. My biggest problem is making out dialogue if actors slur their words, etc. (and my hearing is fine). Often my companions seems to have no problem understanding what's being said. On rare occasions I have resorted to the English subtitles, even though it's my native tongue and that of the actor as well!

As for plot points, I wonder if AS folks like us have higher expectations for understanding things the first time around, and get compulsive. Furthermore, I'm curious whether NTs really 'integrate' films better than we do, or whether they are less likely to worry about it, or less likely to admit it when they are lost.

If I can whisper a question at the cinema then I will, but if not then I won't. At home (or at other people's houses) however, that's a different story! I always point out things and ask why they're doing this that and the other, and I also watch DVDs with English subs because otherwise I get completely lost.

That's nothing compared to their cell phones ringing and them answering the call out loud, like the whole theater cared about their lifes. That's why I like going to the movies when I know there will be few people inside.

I have trouble telling apart the characters unless they have different colored hair or very remarkable traits (like a HUGE nose). Hmm, I might have prosopagnosia...

I also have trouble sometimes telling what they say because of sensory integration dysfunction, which also kicks in when there's too much noise in the room.

I use the english subtitles most of the times, because I don't want to miss anything. My theory on the way NTs watch movies is that they don't care about details as much as we do, and they fill up the blanks with their imagination whenever they missed something.

I'm often lost at several points during movies but I save my questions till the end. If I ask someone while we're watching it, I won't be able to hear what's going on at the time and I'll end up missing out on even more of the plot.

I'm always asking questions during moves and making comments. I have a difficult time understanding what is happening in movies and I don't understand why characters do stuff.

Yeah, I frequently get lost and ask questions. Like superfantastic, I also have trouble telling the characters apart a lot of the time and so that doesn't help. I don't go to the theater a lot because it tends to annoy people (and I don't like to go by myself, so there has to be somebody else visiting willing to go with me). If I'm with my family I talk and ask questions which sometimes bothers them but not that much. If I'm by myself, I sometimes pause and rewind bits of it or use the subtitles. Sometimes I'll be talking about it with someone later and discover I missed a significant part, but most people aren't willing to explain what happened unless they are famly members.

Yeah, I tend to ask questions when I'm watching movies, but I try not to do it too much anymore, unless I'm really lost. To follow the dialect I love to have the close captions on just so I can follow what they are saying. But my questions come from Why is this person doing this again. Sometimes I see something but then i forget what has happened so i like to be refreshed a lot. Also, before i watch a movie i like to know what the movie is about so i can get some sort of idea of what i'm watching.

Yes, I have this problem too. I think that's why I'm not mad on films and much prefer music and books!
