So, I was wanting some food the other day before I boarded my flight home from a long vacation. I went to stop at a nearby resturant to order some food. When I got to the counter I told them what kind of meal I wanted. They then come up to me and say "We don't have any more of this product that you want, do you want to still have A or B?" I was confused with the answer and wanted to change my mind to switch to B. When I told them they would just add one extra thing to my option of A. So then I switched back to A. The whole time they started snickering like something was funny, whas it something I said or did? Why did they start snickering when I was wanting to order something? This has happen to me multiple times when I am with people mostly with females but sometimes males. Had this ever happen to you?

I get quite nervous when handling clerks, this happens to me every time but they don't snicker.

I hate ordering from menus. I'm very bad at ordering things in general and I end up timid and embarrassed. I normally just order something familiar so I don't have to think about it.

But there have been times where I'm like "Wait, actually, I'll have A. Never mind, sorry. I'll have B. In fact, I'll have A." That's only happened a few times, but I always walk away embarrassed from it.

I have to know where I am going beforehand so I can plan what to order and I recite the order process to myself. If I don't do this I switch too much before/during the order and I can't complete it.

That's just like me... I remember going to Starbucks the first time, a place notorious for complicated and specific orders. I went online and looked at their menu to see what I would order the next day

My coworkers randomly go to Starbucks once a week and invite me. I go, but I am not able to order off of the menu even pre-planned due to the complexity. I always grab a smoothie out of the refrigerated area. Haha... glad someone else has this in common with me.

I remember having a conversation with a woman (don't remember where or when) after placing an order and she asked if I had trouble with it. I said yes, I sometimes wish we only had 2 choices, and one of them we hated (I said something about Soviet Russia). She laughed uncomfortably... I felt proud of that conversation/idea actually. :)

Speaking of Starbucks, I got a funny face from the clerk by not even looking at the menu and blurting out
"Mocha Chocolate Chip Frappucino one third of cream double the chocolate chips"

You must have more talent than I, Civ. When a food joint is out of something I SPECIFICALLY came for, I get frustrated and leave. And I'm talking about "red band across the eyes" frustrated. If they want to laugh, they can happily do so with my foot up their ass! Like one day Wendy's says "we're out of potatoes"... They make billions a year and can't keep up a staple food product?? W--T--F!

But hey, maybe the laughing was a sign of attraction to you. It may or may not be true, but even if just in the imagination, what if you got little something in return at their expense? lol

I go to this one small restaurant that serves Greek food. I go there maybe 2 times a month but I get the same thing pretty much every time. the lady that works there already knows my order when I walk in. now I almost feel pressured to order the same thing.

^I seriously doubt it was that. Although, it would be nice.

I am not talking about ordering from food menus though. I'm just talking about times that you had where people are laughing at you for no reason and you have no clue what's funny.

Your server was very unprofessional. Waiters here don't laugh at customers. It's their fault that they're out of things on their menu and they should offer helpful suggestions for replacement. I'm guessing you're in US? Where waiters don't get paid $10 + tips an hour?

If you were confused, probably they found our face amusing. When my Aspie husband is confused he does the most funny faces. Of course I do not find it funny because for me it is kind of anoying to wait until he decides what he wants to order. I usually ask him before the waiter comes to get the order or she/he will have to stand there until he decides. Most of the time he will just let me order for him, but I do not like it (to be making decisions for him that often). My Aspie daughter will just order the same thing all the tme.

Anyway, what they did was rude. Next time you can ask something like: "sorry, do you kind my confusion amusing?". I bet they will stop the snickering at once, and will probably never do it again.
