Groups that are AS friendly?
There are no AS meetup groups or anything in my area. I thought about starting one, but at this time I'm just too nervous about the idea. I was thinking that there might be some groups that aren't exactly for people on the spectrum, but are friendly and understanding towards socially awkward people in general?
Maybe like an art class or something, artists seem to appreciate "unique" views of the world. Anything else that I might have some luck with? What I really need is something to do during the day with my 1 year old son, and the only thing I can find are mothers groups, which I highly doubt I'll fit in with. I just can't see myself scrap booking and walking around the zoo every other day discussing the latest casserole craze.
Thanks!

Do you have those parent resource centres where you live? Here we have something called Ontario Early Years and you can go there and do activities with your children, they also have scheduled play times and different programs you can sign up for such as story telling, music circle times, baby massage, cooking with kids...there are a whole bunch of things that you can do with just you and your children or with a group of parents and children. I know they had places like that when I lived in Alberta as well.
Maybe they have a toddler story time program at your local library? I know my library is very child friendly. They have toys and kids computers in the children's section.
Do you have any social anxiety meet-ups in your area? You could try that as it's a bit similar to AS.
