Hmm. Just as I feared. Those with severe or classic autism might now find they're of a different diagnostic group than those of us with mild autism or HFA. I guess that was bound to happen.

The study found that AS (26 subjects) is small subgroup within big ASD group (430 subjects).

In this study as in most studies distinguishing AS subgroup, stringent AS diagnosis was made (my estimation, refer to Klin and Volkmar's AS studies for more details about stringent AS diagnosis for AS studies).

AS subgroup found to have several distinct features, including strenghthened connections in left hemisphere compared to ASD group and NT group, speculated to have something to do with AS-specific language development.
