Is being hyper[as in crazy] a part of AS? I mean, there's a certain time of the day when I get all hyper and silly. I scream and flap my hands like wings if I see something I like, but only when I'm hyper. It's not bad or anything; I find it fun going hyper.

I'm not sure, but I do that too. I'll do some crazy body actions that would make me look like a flipping idiot, but when you're hyper, nothing matters! :D

What you describe sounds like autism, so it looks more like you MIGHT have AS. (Referring to the post where you expressed doubt).

I still don't even TRULY know what you are talking about, but I DO know that I have ONLY heard that associated with autism. As for the going hyper, that is not just in autism, but it is another possible symptom.

HEY, when did you start talking, etc...?

It is possible to have ADHD co-morbid to Aspergers so that may explain things a little better.

Agreed, and ADHD would explain the medication, but I still think it is wrong to give you meds without your even knowing what they are for. You are hardly a little child anymore, but you know my view on this already. Bi Polar can give the hyper feelings too and can be co-morbid, but that seems less likely. Hand flapping is an autistic way of responding to excitement, although I hear most do tend to manage to learn to control it once they are adults.

No, you are just a light hearted being will a silly sense of humor. The behivor you describe is common in birds. Formal would be the mating dance of Whooping Cranes, but youth is spent learnng the moves.

More visable is the behavior of Roosters, who "display" just what you describe several times a day. Mammals evolved from birds, it is all still in there, I find a lot of it useful, at least for relaxation and expressing happiness. You would be a natural at the crane style of martial arts.

I can recall how as a young child, I would be very energetic yesm, in other words Hyper however, I suppose it was difficult for me to sometimes be able to focus on a particular object or event wihtout becoming too fixated upon or not enough focus if this makes sense? These days in my Adult life I've slowed down somewhat where now I'm able to relax and find calmness with being able to go about my daily life but, Yes there is some Hyperness still about yet, this merely applies when I have perplexing action occur such as when I mis-placed my keys . From the standpoint of prescribing medication for energetic Autistic children, I think this varies from child to child and should not be seen as the cure-all for such a scenario. Medication was never used with me, probably cause, my energy-level became more manageable or the doctors at that time felt it was not needed. Today, I don't use medication only with the exception of taking Lexapro for my depression as, this has been found most effective in my own life.

Well, this represents my thoughts on this. :)

I go hyper sometimes, when I've totally owned at a game or I'm excited. I don't exactly flap my hands or such, but I have an air of excitement and hyperness. (e.g fast, excited movement, stimming, good mood.)

Lately, my son gets extremely hyper at least once a day. He runs wind sprints from one side of the house to the other. I've often wondered if we can channel power from him to solve the planet's energy crisis.
