This woman is truly amazing. Temple Grandin changed the way a lot of people view autism. She is a picture thinker as she thinks in pictures. A movie was made on her called "Temple Grandin." I suggest watching it if you haven't seen it before. Grandin has written several books that I feel explain the autistic mind perfectly.

I've seen that movie, and I have a lot of similar issues with my autism. I really like how Temple's mother loved and accepted her and tried hard to help her, rather than relegate her to an institution, or try to force her to become normal, or punish her for autistic behaviors.

Just realize that autism varies a whole lot, and not every autistic person is a picture thinker.

I'd be interested to see this movie but I'm wondering how much it focuses on the livestock industry since this is her profession? I won't be able to handle it if there's too much focus on animals being killed but I would like to see her story.

there wasnt any imagery of animals being killed during the film if thats what mean.

am also a huge fan of temple as well femirocker, the old speech and language therapist of mine went to see her talk over here and it was interesting to hear how she lives/how her autism affects her as have only read a limited amount via thinking in pictures.

It's a beautiful film and you should be able to watch it okay. I can't watch cruelty to animals either and this movie was fine for me. I loved the movie actually and I watched it with my husband and it helped him understand some things about me.

It's a great film - I've watched it more than once. I'm a visual spatial thinker as well, but regardless there is a lot in the film I can relate to.

I think the greatest part of the film and of Temple's life is the message that an autictic person can go far in life with just a little help and people around you that believe in you and are willing to give you a chance.

I have a substantial amount of respect for Temple, both as an animal scientist and an autism advocate. She may have grown up forty years before I did, but I could still pinpoint similarities between my behavior/thought processes and hers. Essentially, the movie gave me a glimpse of myself from another perspective.

I loved the film too. She truly is fascinating. The movie is on Amazon Prime for free right now if anyone has it.

She was at are local autism conference this year and I got to say that she was a real jerk. very disappointed. I'd talk with others there that at the conference who meet her 5 years earlier and they say that she was nothing like she is today. Even the promoters of the conference weren't happy with her ether. I think that a lot of us would agree that her becoming a celebrity after that HBO movie came out about her has gone to her head. I will have to say one thing. She brought in a record crowd. 95% of those who came to the conference, came just to see her and after she was done. everybody left.

She supports killing animals and has killed them herself, I'm a vegetarian. That's all I can think about when I hear or see her name mentioned.
