Romantic relationships and marriage!! !

I believe I found the key to the whole thing:

My brother just needs to be shown that relationships can be GOOD and that our parents' marriage was a failure which might have scared him into staying away from romance

Maybe that is the true root cause of the ENTIRE PROBLEM?!?

The failure of our parents' marriage might have traumatized him!! !! !!

It's quite a possibly a factor for why he doesn't want to have a relationship but I highly doubt it's a big facor for why he's against you getting married. I bet the main reason he's against you getting married is because he's dependent on you for emtotional & other types of support & is scared of you having more distance & setting boudaries with him. I strongly advise against persuading him into trying to obtain a relationship right now. He has his own issues he needs to work on & those issues would probably majorly interfere with his future relationship right now. I think you having a sucessfull marriage would be the best way to show him that some relationships can workout quite well. Set a possitive example for him.
