Does anxiety intensify or increase the traits you associate with your ASD?

I find that when I am feeling anxious, I find it more difficult to socialise with anyone and my sensory sensitivities are much worse. I am more likely to be obsessive about my interests in general as I find these relieve my stress to a degree. When I feel better, I don't feel as different from most other people. Or maybe these traits just don't bother me as much.

Yes, all of my traits get worse with anxiety/stress too. But this is kind of obvious. Anything which weakens us will expose some of the things we are trying to hide. The effort we put into suppressing our traits will be diverted to dealing with the current issue. Even NT people become emotional wrecks under pressure or stress.

It's entirely normal that being stressed or anxious will affect you negatively, for people with AS or NT. Best to avoid stress if possible or try to learn ways to deal with it better.

Yes--when I feel anxious, I have more difficulty socializing. I also am more likely to say "non sequiturs"--I'm aware they don't make sense, but they just slip out.
