Hi. People think trying to ignore them because I don't look directly at people. I find eye-contact uncomfortable and I feel like people give me a funny look when I try to make eye-contact. I'm learning to look at front of me when I walk so people think I see and recognize them, but when I don't look directly at them they get angry with me and wont talk to me. Sometimes I realize that the person tried to say hi to me, but that is after they have gone. What should I do?

Yeah, I've had that problem too. What I do is I give little verbal affirmations that I'm listening like "yeah", "uh huh", "got it" and stuff like that as well as providing small bits of feedback when the situation calls for it like "that's awesome", "sounds fun", "well that's unfortunate", and things of that sort. If you do that then there is really no doubt that you are listening, even if you are not making eye contact.

Thank you. I usually just say huh, mm and yes, maybe that weirds them out because I say so few words...
