Hello,
I am a self-diagnosed Aspie. However, I think I may have been officially diagnosed when I was young and my mother hid it from me. I have this memory of going to an office where there was an older lady and a bunch of toys and a school desk. My mom left me there for a long time. This lady kept making me take tests and asking me questions. Then she would let me play a while. I asked my mother about this memory and she said “I can’t believe you remember that. They tried to say you have autism, but you don’t have that”. Now for complicated reasons I cannot talk to her anymore about this subject. If I was diagnosed would this diagnosis be in my medical record? Is there some way to find this information? Or, is it possible that if my mother rejected the official diagnoses, it would effectively disappear? This test would have been back in the mid 80’s.
Thank you for any advice.
Why did your mother say you didn't have autism?
Did any other doctors say you had it too or just them?
