This is why autistics need to be cynical and paranoid to certain degree.

I think everyone needs a healthy dose of paranoia from time to time. :lol:

I certainly don't doubt that autistic people have a much higher chance of things like this happening. People with physical disabilities seem "different" but autistic people tend to seem more "otherworldly".

Do autistics tend to be more paranoid than their counterparts or is it dependent on what's happen to them in their past

i.e. Is it the autism that creates paranoia or past treatment from others

I would say it's the past treatment. I am not officially dxed, but I do know my paranoia and social anxiety very much stemmed from negative peer reactions to my physical and social awkwardness.

Thats what I would of guessed , I'll have to blame my paranoia on something else

Part of me wants to try and alleviate your paranoia ( by telling you not all people are bad ) but the other part wants me to tell you to stick to your guns - it's safer that way ( bear in mind I am paranoid so am not in the best position to offer sound advice :lol: )

Disability hate crime is one of the least reported hate crimes. If word got out that a significant rate of autists were learning to defend themselves lawfully and responsibly with firearms like LGBT individuals have done in the last 25 years, I suspect strongly that the effect would be the same: Attackers wouldn't know which victims were armed and which weren't. As a result, they would avoid all of us. This kind of blanket protection could be shared by all if only five to 10 percent learned to protect themselves, and their families and friends.
