I just thought of something. Just imagine for just one day all of us aspies became neurotypical. After 24 hours, we would go back to normal (I love the fact that I just refered to the autisic neurotype as "normal". It feels good actually). There are some of us on here that really do wish that they were neurotypical. This day could be like a free trial day or something.

I know it's not possible (yet), but I'd still like to do it, not because I want to be neurotypical, but for the learning experience... and also for when someone yells to me "Why don't you act normal for once!", I can reply "I did, lady; last tuesday!" (please... someone tell me that they get that last joke!)

Thoughts? Ideas? Comments? Questions?

From what I understand a high fever relieves symptoms of autism. I've been too sick on such occasions to notice anything though.

To be NT for one day?

Hmmm you're IQ would probably drop.

You wouldn't be able to focus on any task for long.

You'd lose all your opinions so you could follow the crowd.

You'd spend a lot of time talking about the weather and traffic.

You'd spend a lot of time worrying about your appearance.

Are you sure this is what you want?

I would go and get drunk, Take drugs and go and watch a bunch of sweaty men chase a white ball around a field while drinking more and making repetitive whooping noises. Then I would jump into bed with the first guy I find in the street after vomiting repetitively in the back of a London cab.

Well that's what NT's do all day isn't it?

I spend a bit of time every day wish I was someone else...

I'm happy with myself the way I am, but I have to admit that it'd be cool to do that for one day, just out of curiosity. :)

I wish I could actually LIVE a few times, each time being a different person (an NT, someone with CP, etc) so I could understand differences better.

Thinking of the other thread on my chaotic and “mad” mind:

Personally, I don’t care for the increased ability to socialise or in my case being able to learn, I’d like to feel the opposite of what my mind is now, it's a fragmented mess of emotions; hate to fear; fear to hate and nothing else..., even for a second I'd like to "feel" the opposite of this. I probably wouldn’t want to go back and I’d drop myself...truthfully. Though I’m quite certain I cannot predict what “peace” and the normality of my emotions would feel like; professionals tell me that the constant fear I feel is easily equated to torture....

I would hope that this day would be on a day I need to do something important, such as a job interview or a behind the wheel driving test. I could conquer my nerves and achieve my goals.

Maybe it's just that when someone has a high fever they're just expected to lie around and be uncommunicative anyway- so that behavior becomes okay for both NTs and Aspies when they're really sick. I don't know anyone who feels like socializing when they're really sick.

I'd want a day completely free of anxiety. That would be awesome.
