Hi all.

I'm not actively using my instagram account, but i look at other people, they generally have 200+ followers i just got 49.

And because i'm autistic, i have less social skills and i could make very less friends in my whole life. Furthermore i don't really have someone i know, to follow on instagram.

I'm asking if i can fix it? Or my introversion won't let me make more friends/followers?

You got a lot of us beat. I don't even have an Instagram account. 49 is a lot. I don't do much with Facebook either.

I got a grand total of 14 subscribers on youtube :D I got a couple of fake social media accounts for my online persona but don't really use them.

My sister however uses all of social media and uses each as her journal. We get to know everything she is doing each and everyday. She has 100 plus followers. Go figure as I don't find anybody interesting enough to follow like that. But she generates quite an online buzz that us quiet follow the rules type people never could. LOL she amazingly boasts of speeding tickets in multiple states, parties almost nightly. She's a riot.

Well, I'm going to start following people. The first wave will start today or tomorrow. In each wave, i'll follow 2 people. I hope i can get followback.

And i have a question. Is it weird to follow people that I met in elementary school (in the age of 14-15)? I dont want to follow my high school classmates.

I don't get what's the big deal with having followers on social media.
In my case, followers are good because I get job opportunities out of it. But unless it's for making money, I don't get it at all.

I know as much as the content of the account is what's important for getting followers. I almost only follow art accounts, and a few aspie-cartoon accounts. Just because that's something that's interesting to me. I have a friend who's a zookeeper, who posts pictures of her workplace, so her followers are interested in animals. My dad's got an account that's only interesting to his friends and family, because it mostly contains pictures of my little sister and the concerts he goes to.
I have no idea why anyone would follow someone who only posts selfies, but I know that if you're good looking enough, you get a lot of followers out of that.
So, you know. If you want a lot of followers, make sure the content is interesting.

If you send the link to your account, I'd be happy to follow you ^^

I don't know why it would be weird to follow some old classmates, although I have a feeling that it might be. I guess it depends on what relationship you used to have. But hey, who cares? If they're putting themselves up on public display, and you think it would be interesting to see what they're up to these days, there isn't really anything they can do about it.
I get unexpected followings from old acquaintances sometimes, and I'm pretty indifferent about it. It goes "oh, it's that guy. Haven't seen him in years. Wonder why he'd follow me? Oh well..." *keep scrolling*.

That's great! I don't have a lot, but I rarely use mine. I get sad sometimes because I only have 50 Facebook friends when other people I know have over 200. I just try to remind myself it's quality, not quantity. I like knowing everybody I am friends with well instead of it being a bunch of strangers, to be honest.

If you want a lot of followers you have to be either well known and famous or often do updates and post things lot of people are into or run kinky page and be female :D . I run a Twitter page that is 18 plus only and I do nearly daily updates on it and I have 291 followers last time I checked because I am female and I am something lot of guys into that lifestyle are looking for. It's fun while it's a hobby and an interest.

But on my other Twitter page I only have 16 and on my Tumblr page I only have 16 because I don't do updates on it all the time and I would rather focus on one social media site. I have instagram but barely use it. I use it for real life so I don't share the url with anyone online. They would have to know my name to find it. I also have Google+ but I never use it so there is nothing on the page lol. I have it because of youtube and I don't know how many followers I have. All I do is add videos to my playlists I like. On Fetlife I have tons of friends on my list because men randomly add me and I don't take that social media place seriously so I accept anyone's friends requests or let their requests sit. I also don't do photos or videos there when I do it on Twitter.

I have a whole 30 followers on Instagram and I'm proud to say that many of them are from Autism Awareness groups.

;)

Hah! I have the opposite problem. I am really uncomfortable because I have like 200 facebook-friends, and I don't want them there!
I don't know them, it's all just my mom's friends XD
I feel like it would be rude to delete them, so I have to let them stay.

Not a bad photo...but you look a bit morose.

Some people might like that, though.

The photo's pretty blurry and the light is not the most appealing, but does it matter? I don't know why that would be a reason to delete it. Most instagram users are not professional photographers.

Oh, and another thing. Your account is private, so that's probably why you don't have more followers. You can't see the photos on there, so no matter how interesting the content is, no one will know it.
Although, I think I've seen private accounts with really big followings. I'm not sure how that works. I guess it's a follow for follow thing?
