I've found that I stim a lot more when I'm alone rather than when I'm out with people.

When I'm alone, I'm not particularly thinking about stimming - it just happens naturally. Thus, I'm unsure why it doesn't really happen when I'm in public. The only times I've noticed it happening in public is when I'm with my parents sometimes, which is likely because I feel the safest and most comfortable to be myself around them. It isn't an intentional effort to not stim in public, it just for some reason doesn't happen.

Do you stim more in private or in public? Is this intentional or unintentional?

I think I stim an equal amount in private and in public, but in public I stim in less obvious ways than in private.

My stimming is pretty much on autopilot.

Only ever in public and I had no idea about it until I joined forum. I didn't think I did it then realised in a supermarket that I was tapping my thumb on my fingers.

If meowing and howling like a wolf count as a stim, I do that more in public than in private.

I do my pea calls in public because I want people to know I'm a Sweet Pea.

I can't tell if this is a Joke but the more comments I read of you the more you sound like a Character from a 90's American sitcom.

I mostly stim nowadays cuz I'm bored or because it's enjoyable. I don't do it as much when I'm out because there's other things to focus on.

Out in public is when I stim more, as there is more stimulation than in my home...plus I do it to concentrate for long periods of listening.

Usually I try and restrict/control it to be in private if possible, but I have been known to do some potential stimming behaviours out in public. Especially in stressful situations. I wasn't aware of this until a friend pointed it out, and I have also acted similarly around family members.

I stim more in private. I feel like when I do it in public it might cause people to target me more.

One of the thing I do while stimming is okay with my hair. Sometimes I do it while driving and I notice some of the drivers look at me or start playing with their hair too.

I think I stim just as much in private as I do out in public.

I for the most part intentionally restricted it to private.i
