Is Prosopagnosia some form of Autism?

Most with ASD or SCD tend to miss emotions, facial cues and body languages.

Prosopagnosia occurs more frequently in people on the autism spectrum than in neurotypicals. However, many people with autism don't have prosopagnosia and not all people with prosopagnosia have autism. So technically it is not a form of autism in and of itself, but rather a condition that has high comorbidity with ASD.

I used to have a profound case of Prosopagnosia, when I would look at faces at any living beings, including humans, I would see only poker faces from them.

It kind of looked more like a rotating mask illusion and sometimes would avoid eye contact, because it felt scary to see faces ( eventually this is why most with ASD avoid eye contact ).

I used to have severe communication delays, had speech delay, very low IQ, delusions, hallucinations, painful sensory issues and self-injury behaviors from my early childhood.

It felt creepy and scary to have profound symptoms of Autism.

Prosopagnosia is the inability to recognize faces. It's not the same thing as difficulty or inability discerning emotions from facial expressions. People with prosopagnosia have difficulty identifying people they know. It's much more serious.

Thank you.

I used to have profound case of Prosopagnosia.

It got milder for at least one decade, when I was getting therapy and social skill classes.

At age nineteen I started to be good at recognizing emotions, facial cues and body languages.

But the most important thing is that I can now recognize people's faces very well.

But I don't see faces like normal people do.

But, I can understand emotions that comes from people's faces.

I still see a mask from faces.
