Yep. Me. Scoots. I will be doing something today I have not done since 2000.

Can you guess? I need to do this, I really do.

Give up?

I've decided to go shopping for clothes.

Yep, in true aspie fashion, I've had the same wardrobe for the past five years. Many of my shirts are now permenatly stained, or damaged from bleach and other experimentation I've done since then. My pants are also worse for wear, but it's only been two years since I replaced those.

I had never really given clothes much thought, I have no taste in style, just get me a five pack of FTL t-shirts and I would be happy. But my doctor says I need to pay really close attention to how I present myself in public, so I need to make a rare trip out in public to go clothes shopping.

I shall report back later on when I have returned!

Clothes? Buy the most flamboyant you can.... That way, when people look at you and think "He's wierd." its based off your clothes and not your expression :P ok ok kidding.

My solution to that problem: ask for clothes for Christmas and your birthday. I've almost always got new clothes, and I haven't been clothes shopping in almost 10 years. It also helped that I had a wife who would come home with the odd "I found these pants for $5 at such-and-such store." I guess I'm going to have to go clothes shopping myself, but not now. Unless I can manage to get a rich girlfriend who wants to play dressup with me.

i cheat when it comes to purchasing clothes by ordering them from catalogues so i don't have to go in busy shops. sometimes i get clothes from charity shops- they tend to be calmer than mainstream shops AND your money goes to a good cause instead of fashion-industry-fat-cat-fascists.

Ugh, I hate shopping for clothes. I could spend quality time on an exercise bike or a treadmill, but put me in a mall and I get winded after one store.

I had to do a lot of clothes shopping this pat year because 1) I lost a lot of weight, and 2) I got a job that required business casual dress. It sucked royally.

I sometimes like shopping for clothes when the back-to-school buzz starts going on, but the huge stores make me all flustered, and I don't like them often. I don't need as many shirts this year because I've run in a lot of races, and they usually give you a shirt for a price at the running races. I like having a tomboy/sporty look, but I know that sometimes it's good to look your gender; I don't usually wear lots of 'girly' stuff, but when I try to look a little more feminine, I tend to wear plain jeans (no flairs, I don't like those much), and a plain long-sleeve t-shirt that's a little more on the girly side. It's much more comfy than wearing all those small clothes that don't cover your whole body, and that allows guys to look down your shirt... I don't see how someone would want that; it would be kind of revealing, but some people actually like that style. I take the comfy choice.

Well. I'm back and recovered.

I hit three stores, then I felt overload set in and I had to call my trip short.

Clothes shopping feels so unatural, too many things to choose from, too much stimulation. I think I attracted the attention of the loss prevention person at wal-mart. I found myself being tailed by a person who apparently had nothing in particular to shop for.

I still need pants and shoes. I shall do that tomorrow.

However, I did find a shirt I had to grab. It was a plain black t-shirt, on the front was printing.

"My mind is out at the moment. Please leave a message."

I got home, had a pizza, then laid down and crashed for a few hours.

Clothes shopping, ughhh...! :x Historically clothes were a big deal for me, or rather a big problem. As a teen I was paranoid that my clothes would look weird. However I was totally incapable of noticing what others were wearing, and as a result I insisted that new clothes were similar to the old ones that I was used to. I became proficient with sewing, in order to prolong the life of my clothes. These efforts actually made me look weird, as I was wearing old, outmoded and often worn out attire. When I had to get something new, it could not be "flashy", green, have any printings, and the front should look the same as the back (for shirts, sweaters, etc.). I got better with clothes when I moved away from my parents.

Nowadays I buy clothes when absolutely necessary, usually while doing other shopping, and I try to shop for one type of clothes at a time, in one store (except when a special event, such as an upcoming trip, necessitates more "emergency" shopping). T-shirts, underwear and socks do not cause me any trouble. The rest are "torture", as I am quite picky, need to buy exactly what I want, but can never find that, of course. The worst are shoes (for some reason it is very difficult to find men's 8 size). I've managed to dress somewhat more mainstream during last couple of years, or so I hope.

That reminds me of some shirts my family bought me at Xmas.

"Cocky" with a picture of a Rooster, and then the definition of Cocky under it (arrogant etc)
"World Champion Of Nothing" and I pride myself on it :D

And my personal fav, "Personality Under Construction", which I'm wearing right now :)

Nice selection there Scoots :) I believe clothes tell you alot about the person wearing them.
