Simple question.

I thought I did at one point. Then I would often assume too much, question myself, or tire the person by asking "Are you sure? Is that what you meant?" That doesn't sound like good reading.

I can sometimes sense that a person is getting tired, but I don't trust my senses anymore.

Rarely. It is like playing Blind Man's Bluff.

I'm sure I can't read them at all. Before I learned about AS I thought I probably read people OK, but since knowing about AS I don't trust anything about myself and dealings with people anymore, because obviously I don't have a clue.

Some days I think that I am completely blind, deaf, dumb, stupid and horrified about how stupid I am about the whole reading people thing. I don't get non verbal cues. I don't get gestures, sometimes, even. Definitely not facial expressions. Clueless.

Sometimes better than NTs although I realize that when I do read into something:

1) 90% of the time I'm wrong.

2) That other 10% of the time? I pick up on things that NTs don't. Details. Interests. Conflicting statements.

There's so much I have to act my way through and try to compensate for that I think I'm attuned to things an NT might miss as they're busy bombarding eachother with those mysterious non-verbal cues and rules of theirs.

Police detectives should be partnered up with an NT and an Aspie in every car. :) Corruption would go way down and if they could learn to coexist, they'd each notice things the other missed.

I dont read people well at all. I think I do sence when people are getting board with me talking but other then that I can rairly tell if someone is happy, sad, angry, or whatever. If someone needs me to understand their feeling they simply must verbalize then or exadurate their facial expressions.

Same. Before I learned anything about the "Non-Verbal" disorder, I thought I could understand people. I would always end up confused when the person "verbalized" their distress against me since I thought everything was going fine.

May as well bet horses full-time. Or buy lottery tickets. :: My ability to 'mind read.'

But I am uncanny at knowing how many there are in, say, a jar of jelly beans! (I can flash count).

If you ask me what those jelly beans are thinking, how should I know? See above........

I'm not good at reading people, though I have gotten a bit better at it over the years. Also, I can sometimes sense when a person is being fake with me. But most of the time, it's not easy for me to determine how/what a person is feeling. And, I often over-analyze a person's actions.

I can read people 100%, They do not have a clue what they said.

They are lying to cover up something they did not understand in the first place, but they will avoid blame.

Homer Simpson, "It was that way when I got here."

I am perfect so everyone should believe me.

That is only true of me, the rest of you are covering up something horrible.

They are lying, they do not know about what, it is a game of musical chairs.

The point is to seem innocent, and when not given that, they freak because there is guilt, and they know they deserve to be boiled in oil before skinning and hanging.

NT is everyone covering for everyone, because of equal guilt.

Getting by with Ali Baba and the forty thieves, takes a wink, and letting them off the hook.

The reasons we do not get along is we see that production could double if half the people were fired, we have been known to speak the truth, and can judge that some people only come to work to run the football pool.

NT is a very slave mindset, with the employer as owner. They want to do as little as possible, and avoid blame.

The first Union Rule is it takes three people to do one job.

They know they lack intelligence, skill, and want to get by with a "C-".

We are Honor Students, and are known for saying what is true, but avoided.

So just consider they are lying to save face, and agree with them.

What is this aspie problem of wanting things to make sense? These are humans!

How can you tell when a NT is lying? Their lips are moving.

In situations when it is usually required to read people, I think I am doing fine until someone tells me otherwise :?.
My mother told me yesterday that some of the things I do or say make people uncomfortable and that I need to learn to realise this. Obviously...i'm not as good as reading others as I thought. :(

I don't read people well at all, but you can read their actions. Actions are much more indicative than words.

Before I was diagnosed I thought I was OK. Now I realise I am almost clueless about NTs, it's like what on earth are they up to?
