It seems that we are not defective, just different from other people... a "minority" if you will... Unlike the typical "races" that can be easily identified by skin color and other features, our differences are at first invisible... I wonder if we looked different on the outside, would it be easier for society to deal with us? Since this site is called "Wrong Planet".., what if everyone on the autistic spectrum just happened to be a pale shade of "alien green"? Would other people immediately know how we were from gradually learning how to communicate with others like us, similar to learning a new language? Would they accept us more and know how to get along with us better if the difference was more readily recognizable and then they wouldn't be so angry when we aren't able to be like them?

Since there are so many new members of our "race or "species", there needs to be more done on the front of "Autistic Rights". People on the autistic spectrum are being unjustly imprisoned and tortured throughout the world because they aren't understood or appreciated for being different.

More and more, I am beginning to see it like that... People wonder and are amazed when one of us rebels against a life-time of mistreatment and ends up being like a Seung-Hui Cho. More needs to be done to educate the general public at an early age about being more understanding and accepting of other types of individuals in their midst.

In Honor of Arthur C. Clarke, the great science-fiction writer who passed away this week and was buried yesterday, here's a thought:

Currently, new projects are being conducted and much money is being spent to try and contact extra-terrestrial life outside of our planet.. If most of the people of our world cannot even accept those of us who physically look so much like them, and just have certain differences in our brain structure, how would people from another planet ever be accepted? Hopefully the citizens of other worlds will be aware of the intolerance here before they decide to visit.. Chances are, they are probably quite aware of our planet, and just keep their distance? Maybe when our world becomes more accepting and tolerant of the differences in the beings indigenous to this planet, then we will be ready to receive contact from beings from other worlds...

I think all that money being spent to contact other intelligent life-forms in the universe could be put to better use by learning to understand the different types of humanoid life forms here on this planet first.... I don't think this world would be ready if, God forbid, some intelligent beings really DID respond to the communication attempts.. you know? Hopefully, an Aspie would be the one at the helm of the project though, if they did

that's what always tickled me about Star Trek. We always understood the aliens better than they understood themselves...but we don't even understand Canadians...;)

prejudice exists for so many reasons, stupid as they may seem, that to weed them all out and make everyone get along with everyone is unfortunately impossible.

Somewhere someone is prejudice against people that eat french fries with ketchup and someone is prejudice against the russians, and so on and so forth.

I do think NASA is a waste of time, execpt for putting satelites in space for communication purposes. after all who doesnt like the internet!

Nice vent. I'll have to put some serious thought into the green pigment issue. I've gotten used to my complexion being the way it is. :D

That is a good point. Alien Psychology will abide by different rules then human Psychology, or even Earthly Psychology. If we don't even fully understand all aspects of human psychology, how can we possibly understand alien Psychology?
