Is this what life's like for a lot of aspies www.the-newrepublic.blogspot.com ? Is this one of the voices that don't normally get heard? Is this guy gonna Go Postal and get to be a famous Bad Aspie? What would you do in his situation? As Krex said "You laugh till you cry and then carry on crying." (Be warned it's not for the feinthearted)

I could really relate to the poverty, the hard scrabble existance and the unending grind of reality. Yeah, this is how it is for some of us.

He seems a little off his rocker. I wonder if all the "characters" in his blog are actually real people in his life, or if he made them all up.

yeah, living like that can put you right off your rocker! Aspies usually divvy up and sort out different personas that take care of different social challenges. I think the "characters" is him he is getting in touch with. So, yeah, he has made them up like an author makes up characters in a novel, they all further the plot.

That is interesting. it didn't occur to me that he had made them up.

But the idea that they are a team of aspies and/or "other weirdos( in the fondest sense of the word)/neurodiverse each offering a skill fits, I suddenly remember. The rare times got a group of any kind going, became part of one, there was a dividing up of who did what.

I was good for filing, bank and bills paperwork, organising book shelves, occasional healthy cooking, creatively painting furniture, and certain kinds of "information"/knowledge. Also for listening and watching others which helped one person at least feel more real/there and able to function. Others were better at activity outside the house, at telephone calls, making music, stone-head- style-party-creating, etc etc.

It was magic when it happened.

yes! I sewed a huge cape for myself from design to wearing it down the street. All I did was wait for the inspiration on how to do the next step, and I just figured it out and executed it by listening with an inner ear and followng the intuitions.

I never got the term "Aspies couldn't organize a beer bust in a brewery" Of course we can, we just have to want to do it, is all.

Well, he does say all the characters are real anonymized people. It's not difficult to work out which part of the UK he's in. I'm not suprised there's already some "Legal Issues". I know the characters are exagerrated for effect, but... There's a lot of crazies working in the mental health field.

Nothing spectacular? A homeless, autistic genius, getting shot at? Left living in squalor, in one of the richest countries of the world? Not more than 10 miles from where the demi-god Prof Simon Baron-Cohen holds court at the Autism Research Centre? What counts as spectacular in your book? I take it you've got a roof over your head, and have never been on the wrong end of a gun..

Yes I have a roof over my head, and no I've not been on the wrong end of a gun (there being illegal here makes it rather uncommon, to be fair).... but have been on the wrong end of a knife and told the wielder to go shove it. Sh!t happens to Aut-Spectrum folk. The mundies make that sh!t happen. Doesn't matter so much what form it takes. The enemy is clear enough.
