Do AS, ADHD, and other run in the family?

i just wanted to know if you think it runs in the family,
parents, childre, uncle... are you alone? or are you a whole family of aspies?

I found out i am an aspie, when i was looking for some answers for my brother who has some autistic trait.
Now i realised that my mum is most likely to be an aspie.
And my son, i think he has adhd or something...

its strange as i am the only person with a autism trait, Asperger's , in my family. there is a history of depression in my family but no autistic traits.

There is stuff on both sides of my family.

Lets see, my uncle is under the spectrum, my father could possibly have AS, I am under the spectrum and my son is.. or is my son under the spectrum because it was a traumatic birth? There are genetic links to it I believe.

am think a big part of it it is definitely genetic,am have a lot of spectrumers in family.
both dad and sister are aspie,am kanners/classic autie.
cousin alan jr [dads brothers son] is also kanners/classic though hf.
dads other brother is aspie.
mum [NT] thinks her sister and her sisters' son are both aspies and has tried to get her sister to go for assessment as she is quite lf,and isnt able to look after her severe diabetes properly,and also needs someone with her when she's not at home.
so autism could be on both sides.

am dont think it's completely genetic,otherwise there wouldn't be autists without autistics in their family.

I'm pretty sure it's genetic. My Dad and my paternal grandfather both seem to be spectrum. While I don't think that my Mom's side of the family is autistic, there's a lot of other mental issues.

I believe AS & ADHD are genetic.

my youngest brother
my grandfather (maternal - suspected AS)

people with ADHD/ADD in my family:

my daughter [ADD]
my grandfather (paternal)

There may be more, but I don't know enough about my extended family members to say for sure.

It runs in our family.

I believe my father was Aspie, my husband believes he is probably Aspie, I have a few traits although not enough to BE Aspie, and my son IS Aspie.

Both my Mom's and Dad's side have a history of heart problems, but as for Autism or Asperger's- I'm the first in our family to ever have autism.

It does tend to run in families but I only have one cousin who has Asperger's.

Yes, it is hereditary. My observations have been that fathers pass it to their sons, mothers pass it to their daughters. But there are always exceptions.

Exception here. I suspect that my father has AS and I am under the spectrum. My daughter has ADHD but is not under the spectrum but my son is... and I don't think my husband has AS even though I like to socialize more than he does... but I do believe it is hereditary.

It's hereditary but it doesn't follow that;

a. It affects everyone in a line
b. It can't skip a generation
c. There can't be other causes as well.

In other words, if it runs in your family, then you're more likely to have it than someone without it in their family BUT Nothing is for certain.

Whole family. My mom is NVLD/AS, my little brother is PDD-NOS / AS, and I'm PDD-NOS / AS myself. And my dad who is supposedly NT scores really high on those Aspie tests.

What do you think the percentage are for a mum aspie and a father NT to have aspie kids?
And what about two Aspie parents?
