I had a phone call a few minutes ago, my friend called me to tell me about the massive hangover that she's experiencing. so I asked her how she was feeling and she said something like this:

"my head hurts, everything is so loud and bright, I can't concentrate on anything, my mind is hazy and I have a hard time finding the right words."

all I could say to that was "welcome to my world."

at first she thought I was joking but I told her that yes, this is what I feel like most of the time, pretty much every single day of my life.

it so happens that she's the only person I told about my suspected AS and ever since then I've been trying to explain the whole thing to her. it took 8 months and a good hangover for her to finally understand :D

so what do you guys think about that- AS = a NT hangover?

Well, brightness used to give me a head ache, and I'm somewhat getting used to louder sounds, but overall I don't think these things affect me to the point of using it as a comparison with a hang-over. That is just me though, and many people say we are affected in various ways and severeness.

I'm not big on drinking, and I actually only started trying some about a year ago now. I've had one hang-over, and the only difference I noticed was a head ache. Not like I've never had one of those before. It was just a head ache day, but with a known cause that time.

I showed a person my answers to the Aspie quiz, and told them if they want a better understanding, to examine it for a bit!

I think you're on to something here. I've noticed that most ppl I know experience some sensory stuff when hung over, just like you say.
I also guess they feel out of sync with what's going on around them as well. In fact I've just tried to explain to a few persons, and they don't have a clue to what I try to explain. Maybe I'll try your hangover approach next time. :D

Haha thanks for this anna, that is a good analogy. My social circle (what I have anyway) doesn't drink much so I am not sure I can use it. But I have used the analogy to my husband of when he is very tired - he spaces out, can't think quickly, is more physically clumsy and slow, more likely to forget things (they say being tired is similar on the body to being drunk  )

Funny enough, I don't feel that way when I am hungover. The next day after drinking alot all I feel is very nauseous.

It describes the sensory problems, at least, even if not the entire state of being.

I have been thinking about this concept lately. I have noticed that my hangovers tend to be a good deal more intense than those I have observed in others. Furthermore, I tend to feel somewhat hung over all the time, regardless of my alcohol consumption or lack thereof.
