There is a song by Rage Against the Machine in their album Renegades that I think captures the feelings of isolation and the realization of the sheer superficiality of normality called "Beautiful World."

Rage Against the Machine wrote:
It's a beautiful world we live in
A sweet, romantic place
Beautiful people—everywhere
The way they show they care
Makes me want to say
It's a beautiful world
Oh what a beatiful world
For you

It's a wonderful time
To be here
It's nice to be alive
Wonderful people—everywhere
The way they comb their hair
Makes me want to say
It's a wonderful place
Oh what a wonderful place
For you
For you
For you
For you
For you
For you
Not me!

I think the song "Alien" by Atlanta Rhythm Section describes how alot of AS people feel.

Quote:
The sun just went behind a cloud again
Down crowded streets he walks alone
He's a stranger out of place
A number not a face
All day long, he's all alone

He's feelin' like an alien
Feeelin' like he don't belong
Have mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back hom

The feeling that he feels he can't explain
Sunday Monday Tuesday they're all the same
He's lost an all alone
A heart without a home
Standing like a statue in the rain

He's feelin' like an alien
Feeling like he don't belong
Have mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back home

Now and then we are all are aliens
Feeling like we don't belong
Have Mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back home

Sorry if I missed some of the lyrics, doing it from memory isn't easy. I can remember hearing this song on the radio early in the morning when I was getting ready for school. It described how I felt so well.

Now thats a real aspie song for sure.

Much better. The other song was more of a depression song than a aspie one. This one is a aspie one.

Oh wow! So many memories. Mostly bad and painful. I used to hear "Alien" all the time when I was in school too. I could definately relate.

Ready for the Storm

The waves crash in, the tide rolls out
its an angry sea but there is no doubt
That the lighthouse will keep shining out
To warn a lonely sailor.

The lightening strikes
The wind cuts cold
Through the sailors bone
Through the sailors soul
Till theres nothing left that he can hold
Except a rolling ocean.

I am Ready for the Storm
Yes, Sir, ready.
I am Ready for the Storm
I'm ready for the storm.

Oh give me mercy for my dreams
Cause every confrontation seems
To tell me what it really means
To be this lonely sailor

And when the sky begins to clear
The Sun it melts away my fears
And I shed a silent, weary tear
For those who mean to love me

Oh, I am Ready for the Storm
Yes, Sir, Ready
I am Ready for the Storm
Im ready for the storm.

The Distance, it is no Real Friend
And Time will take its time
And you will find that in the End
It brings you Me, this lonely sailor

And when you take me by the hand
When You love me, Lord, You love me and
I should have realized
I had no reason to be frightened.

Oh, I am Ready for the Storm
Yes, Sir, Ready!
I am Ready for the Storm
Im ready for the Storm

Bland-This poetic song by Rich Mullins has brought me much comfort and hope. I've always felt like I don't really belong here. Always out of sync. That some day I'll wash up on another shore and finally be understood and accepted. I have this hope. It's what keeps me going.

Gee, anyone would think we're all terribly depressed! ;)
How about a fun one? I'd like to nominate Make Stupid Noises by Alexei Sayle.

Quote:
Whenever people bother me
When they shout and raise their voices
I don't let it get me down
I just make some stupid noises!

I go...HUH HUH HUH HUH NI NI NI NI YA YA YA (etc.)

When the boss is giving you the sack
'Cause you've lost all his invoices
Don't drink a bottle of sulphuric acid
Relax, make stupid noises!
Just go... (etc.)

WHITE ROOM Lyrics
CREAM
Sung by Eric Clapton

written by Jack Bruce and Pete Brown

In the white room with black curtains near the station.
Blackroof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings.
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes.
Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment.

I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines;
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves.

You said no strings could secure you at the station.
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows.
I walked into such a sad time at the station.
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning.

I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back;
Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves.

At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd.
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten.
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes.
She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings.

I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd;
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves.

Happy, happy, joy, joy!! !!

What If God Smoked Cannabis?
by Weird Al Yankovic

If God had long hair and a goatee
And if His eyes were pretty glazed
If He looked spaced-out
Would you buy His story
Would you believe He had an eye infection

And yeah, yeah, God looks baked
Yeah yeah God smells good
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah

What if God smoked Cannabis
Hit the bong like some of us
Drove a tye-died micro bus
And He subscribes to Rolling Stone

When God made this place in the beginning
Did He plant any seeds or did He put them there
For Adam and Eve so they'd be hungry
For the apple that the Snake
Was always offering

And yeah yeah God rolls great
Yeah yeah God smells good
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah

What if God smoked Cannabis
Do you suppose He had a buzz
When He made the platypus
When He created Earth our home
Does He like Pearl Jam or the Stones
And do you think He rolls His own
Up there in Heaven on the throne
And when the saints go marching home
Maybe He sits and smokes a bowl

Nooo, can't have the weed song! Chunks of this community are all straight and sober, and don't have any illegal fun at all! We must remember to include this minority!

No, Cheese, no, please don't censor yourself because there are a few outspoken people who like to tell other people what to do.

Here's my favorite aspie song, by Dave Matthews:
I say my hell is the closet I’m stuck inside
Can’t see the light
And my heaven is a nice house in the sky
Got central heating and I’m alright
Yeah, yeah, yeah...can’t see the light
Keep it locked up inside don’t talk about it
Talk about the weather
Can’t see the light
Open up my head and let me out, little baby
Here we have been standing for a long, long time
Treading trodden trails for a long, long time
I say my hell is the closet I’m stuck inside
Can’t see the light
and my heaven is a nice house in the sky
Got central heating and I’m alright
Here we have been standing for a long, long time
Treading trodden trails for a long, long time
I find sometimes it’s easy to be myself
Sometimes I find it’s better to be somebody else
I see you young and soft oh little baby
Little feet, little hands, little baby
One year of cryin’and the words creep up inside
Creep into your mind
So much to say
Here we have been standing for a long, long time
Treading trodden trails for a long, long time
I find sometimes it’s easy to be myself
Sometimes I find it’s better to be somebody else
So much to say
Open up my head and let me out
Little baby
