Queen Rhodope and King Haemus in Thrace, were turned into mountains, the Rhodope and Balkan (Haemus Mons) mountain chain respectively, by Hera and Zeus, for their hubris in comparing themselves to the gods. Or so Ovid tells us in Metamorphoses 6.87.
