Why is Life like this?
NOWADAYS, they must grab these kids before they're half-way through Uni, and boy are the adverts a bunch of you-know-what!! ! I've never seen such (malarkey) ! ! And almost all the people in adverts are in their twenties!! ! BLIMEY!! ! HALLLOOOO, I purchase things too, ya know ! !!
Makes me angry, it does ....
I agree. When I got my lousy degree I started out in that field making half what I make now doing something that didn't require a specific degree just profeciency with the group. Now my employer is posting ads in every media there is begging for employees because they cannot get enough people to apply who have computer skills plus know English really well. Honestly the clincher is English spelling skills and this is in a freakin college town! It seems many of the young people today do not want to work. Well they work at a degree thinking a job will be handed to them on a silver platter and then they want to sit on their butts at that job texting their friends. This makes me so angry. Mind you a few of the young ones are excellent, but most are not.
Thing is when I went to college I was part of the first generation where the majority of the kids did go on to college. There wasn't enough professional jobs to hire all those graduates and even today the economy does not have enough of those jobs to employee all of the graduates colleges are turning out. Unless you go into healthcare or programming there is no guarantee of a job after school, but you will have little emo punks telling you how they are going to get rich as artists or history majors. Yeah right!
Kids don't realize that many of them could make just as much money going into a skilled labor job such as contracting or plumbing. Sure they would have to work hard physically, but some of those guys make almost as much as doctors! There is a huge shortage in those industries because the youth today are scared of getting dirty. Not everyone has the brains it takes to go to college though nearly all kids go these days.

There is a shortage of geologists right now, and they're starting out at $75,000 a year. Not very many people are majoring in it, and many of the current geologists are retiring.

I'm in the younger crowd but I can't relate to any of them. All my friends have always been *gasp* old! The person I know I can actually call and rely on when I need to is 38 while I'm only 22. I don't think the younger crowd is any more empowered than they used to be. I think it's all commercialism. The younger crowd are the ones more willing to throw their money away on frivalous things so it makes sense to market almost soley to them.

The other day one of those talk show chaps on radio was saying how people have lost some elementary skills these days. He said he's stopped to help ladies and GENTS who have a flat tire and are absolutely clueless as to how to put on the spare ! !! SERIOUSLY!! He was bloomin' serious. I learned how to change a flat when I was 16 and got me first car!! My mum told me things like that right off. "Ya better read the instructions in the manual, and practice it." I surely did, and it paid off.
I think cooking a meal is a dying art, among the younger set.
I think knitting and sewing will vanish from the earth when we die....

BABY ON BOARD
STOP EVERYTHING, DADDY'S LITTLE PRINCESS MUFFY THE YUPPIE BABY BOOMER HAD A CHILD, RAISE THE TEACHERS PAY 500%
OOP'S CAP LOCKS
Spare no expense, KING BABY was born, get a mini van, pray grandma dies so her house can be sold for a down payment on a McMansion yuppie castle bought with the inheritance money to raise KING BABY in.
Between the former hippie's turned yuppie and their kids, I hope the worst recession sinse the great depression hits and they all get wasted. Most self absorbed people to ever walk the face of the earth, which is worse, the parents or the kids is a toss up.
The funny part is the so called kids ( 15 to 20 somethings) almost all look like they are mad at the world. Soccer moms and their kids, BARF
