Try going with blade roasts instead of the lean ones. They have more fat and therefore won't cause problems such as those that you described.

I was lethargic, had twitching of muscles, unable to think, and weird eye focusing issues. I will have to be more careful and figure out my daily menu ahead so this doesn't happen again. At first I didn't even realize that it was happening, people were having a hard time understanding me but that really isn't to out of the ordinary. I was aware that this could happen but not in a day, I thought it would be at least a week of high protein diet to cause it now I know. 8O

PS thank you TM for not saying told you so.

I'm an a**hole, not a dick. The main reason I advice fat, is that with your metabolism ,if your body gets used to burning protein for fuel, it will be more likely to burn muscle that isn't being used. The other reason is that fat sates you much more than protein or carbs. There is a reason why people can stuff down entire bags of potato chips but can barely put away a pack of bacon.

I once ate three packs of bacon with 8 eggs. I've never been able to tell when I'm full so I need to calculate how much I'm eating or my lungs eventually don't have room to fully inflate.

I am now at 60% fat, 25% protein, 10% slow carbs, and 5% fast carbs. Blood sugar most of the time is stable but like to day was running low no matter what I ate. But over all balancing out fine I have hope that I haven't caused any permanent damage. I still struggle to eat enough but am finding that I am needing less calories on this diet by about 10%. Still hate eating my vegetables but forcing my self to at them, with any luck Ill learn to like them.

That sounds like a good nutrient breakdown. If you are in heavy physical activity, you may benefit from increasing your fast carbs on those days. I usually increase my carb intake on workout days, in the peri-workout nutrition windown to get better workouts. The added benefit of the fat is that it contains 8 calories per gram rather than 4 (carbs and protein) so you need to eat less and it keeps you sated for longer since your body uses more time to digest it.

How do you prepare your veggies? Just boiled/steamed vegetables can get boring, did you try sautéed greens in butter, broccoli and cauliflower baked in cream, stir-frys or mixing them into things?

The problem in general is that there's only a few I like. Corn, peas, lettuce, spinach and fresh beans off the vine, kind of a limited pallet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't peas and beans legumes? Also corn is a grain, not a vegetable. It's pretty much empty sugar for all intents and purposes. If you're particularly sensitive to lectins then corn can also cause chronic forms of indigestion and fatigue.

You're seeing the issue all ready, but I am trying to eat other things that I normally would not touch. The corn I figured into quick carb category the one I am trying to keep under 5% of the total calorie intake.

Lettuce, spinach and fresh beans (not all kinds) are fine, eat your heart out. I find that you can make a nice "mashed potatoish" thing using cream and cauliflower. Peas are fine too, but stay off the corn, its what they use to make high fructose corn syrup and we all know how amazing that s**t is for getting lean. (SARCASM)

Guys that do unsupported walks to the south pole have a similar diet but even more skewed to fat because of the energy density.

For snacks do have somewhere to keep stuff cool, cheese is a good calorie dense high fat/protein low sugar food.

Also if you have a proper butcher near you he will be happy to make up custom sausages for you to your specs. Once they are hung and dried for a few weeks they last for months.

TM still fine tuning the diet for the most part blood sugar has stabilized between 86 and 130 Ive been able to cut 300 more calories from the diet and maintain my ideal weight. Look like barring any other changes I am on the right track. I expect the Dr. to give me better news the next visit.

DC I live in the middle of nowhere no butcher just farmers and Its still 4 months before they will start butchering but when they do I will restock the chest freezer for sure. One town market will custom make sausage though.

Wolfheart The diet your recommending is nearly identical to the one I put my kids on last year to keep them In good shape. The problem for me Is that I am only half european decent apparently I inherited my father's sides metabolism. Native American whom tend to have a high instants of diabetes I believe the issue for me is I have never real eaten an native diet In my life but what I'm currently doing is closer than I have ever been before.

Dauthrsbane As to whether one type of food is more filling or not to me is not relevant because I eat out of necessity not hunger there is little joy to be found in eating at all. So yes I could eat as you described 3 packs of bacon and not blink an eye. Actually one of the meals I really enjoy I cant have like before, the breakfast supper 6 slices homemade french toast, 6 eggs, half pack bacon, a bowl corn beef hash, a bowl of two slices toast and two cups coffee with three tea spoons of sugar and cream. It was all ways made the way described at my grand parents on Saturday night for me starting at age eight when I would work the farm during the winter.

1000Knives A friend is making me beef jerky from the marbled cuts at a great price.

ooOoOoOAnaOoOoOoo Ive been keeping a lot of sun flower seed on hand at work high in good fats calories and protein.

Delphiki for the breakfast it has stopped the mid morning lows.

SilkySifaka Thanks for the link .

Pondering, WinterRain, for the concern.

Kjas For keeping us on track.

Thanks every one.
