Listen to Keith Jarrett's solo piano concerts. Start with the Köln Concert and go from there. My favorite is the Bremen Concert.

Thanks for the tip, I like Keith Jarrett a lot. Forgot to include the wonderful Bill Evans on my previous post. His music soothes me and his melodic styles are just lovely.

I don't really know what my favourite genre is since I like loads:

Chart music (pop)
Old pop, new wave and disco (70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s)
Rock (including punk, psychedelic, glam, grunge, alternative, indie, hard, soft)
R&B ('60s' kind and the new kind)
Ballads (technically not a genre, but you know what I mean)
I used to hate rap, but I'm kinda getting into it.
Electronic (including Eurodance, techno, trance, house, hardcore, electropop, D&B, some dubstep)
Classical piano pieces
Sometimes jazz
Sometimes folk
Sometimes country
Some foreign music

I like all sorts

Lots. Mainly rock genres - old indie and alternative rock, metal (progressive, black, doom, thrash), post-rock, punk/post-punk/new wave, gothic rock, folk rock, neofolk, industrial, stoner, southern/roots rock, psychobilly. Other stuff - ambient, dub, goa, IDM, dark electro/futurepop, as well as old stuff like Depeche Mode or Kraftwerk. Small doses of country - who doesn't like Johnny Cash - and non crap rap. Favourite bands include New Model Army, Joy Division, Devo, God Is An Astronaut, Red Sparowes, Tool, Agalloch, Boards Of Canada, Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, The Damned.
