Sometimes. Even if I don't play it in actuality, it will be on constant repeat in my head for hours.

It's not a problem. It's a joy. I can listen to "Love Bites" by Def Leppard over and over till the needle wears a deep groove in the record. Same thing for "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" by Chicago or "Age of Aquarius" by the 5th Dimension.

Use headphones if it's bugging the people around you.

This happens to me as well. There was a recently a WP thread after Dave Madden (of Partridge Family fame) died. I subsequently started listening to the Partridge Family theme song in a loop for several hours in a row. Then, I would hear the song (in my head) whenever I was walking my dog or driving my car. I would hum the tune while at work. I even created my own words to the tune. I believe (for me) it’s a form of stimming. Like all my other stims, it drives my wife nuts.

I had the theme music to Game of Thrones stuck in my head for about a week straight. Kinda weird I guess. My own little tunes also get stuck in my head from time to time.

I do this all the time! The longest I have ever listened to a song was 10 hours straight, and then when I woke up I continued to listen to it throughout the day and then for another 4 hours straight that night before finally tiring of it xD That was pretty extreme though, it's usually only for a couple of hours (around 2-5 on average not counting having it stuck in my head all day).

All the freakin' time I'm stuck on a song…

What's bad is if it's something I'm writing. Working up an arrangement of "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence." I've gone totally Trans-Siberian in recent months with my own music, and the trend is not looking to change any time this year.

I've heard "Say Something" WAY too many times on the radio recently. It's stuck in my head, and it can go away any time now…

Otherwise, I stay inspired listening to Tangerine Dream. I tend to get stuck on artists/bands more than just songs. Right now I'm alternating between the title track from "Exit" and "Choronzon" from the same album. My kids LOVE "Choronzon," so they ask me to play it every time we're in the van in transit or out running errands.

I'm guessing if it keeps spinning in your head, your mind is unconsciously telling you it's quality, no?

For some reason, this reminded of a time, about two years ago, when portions of a particular song got stuck in my head. I couldn’t remember any of the words. I could only remember small parts of the song. I tried humming the words to my wife and kids, to no avail. I subsequently spent the entire weekend, doing Google searches, trying to figure out the name of that darn song.

About two months later, I was at my friend’s house (the guy I have known for > 40 years), and the song came on the radio. It was “kodachrome”. Thankfully, this does not happen often. As not knowing, simply drove me nuts.

After it came on, I listened constantly to it. Even the kids were singing along with me.

I get stuck on songs all the time- both in the listening to the same song over and over and over sense, and in the need to hear a particular song then afterwards feeling a sort of emotional release.
