What do you think makes a person a loser? I've always thought of it as being a HS dropout, uneducated, mentally weak, drug addicted, broke, friendless, dateless, still living at home at an older age. It can also include never leaving the house and being obsessed with things like anime, internet, and video games. AND being jobless or working at a dead end job at an older age.

It doesn't have to be all of these things, just a combination of a few, and it's not limited to the above qualities.

If we were doing a check list for losers featuring those choices, I'd probably put a check next to every option except drug-addiction.

Ok, so I've been called a quitter and coward by two different people in this thread. I'd say those are characteristics of someone you would label a loser. Am I wrong?

The most important thing is that a loser cant change.
If you are a loser you can buy nice clothes and you´d be a loser in disguise but that wont make you less of a loser.

You can work in yourself and are therefore disqualified to become a loser so the applicable term is quitter.

imo losers are born as losers and being a loser isnt defined by some aspects of your life that didnt turn out as you´d have liked them to.

to the OP- the people who you fear would look down upon you as a loser, are just likely full of themselves, and as mere mortal bags of meat and bones aren't worth obsessing over. don't you look upon yourself as a loser and inferior to these sorts of people, it is not worth your time and energy. don't you dwell upon your weaknesses nor confuse other people's facility with hiding their own weaknesses in various ways, as evidence of the absense of said weaknesses. all humans have weaknesses, only the angels have transcended these mortal flaws. :) the alphas are just temporarily blinded to their own flaws, which in the end will bite them with certainty.

No, you are not. I'm very pissed at life too. I wouldn't ask this question though, since people would probably say yes which would put me down even more.

EDIT: 8 yeses? That's not nice, people

I am sure most people consider me a loser in real life, a social loser at least.

So I am not that much better than you.

I don't agree with you. I don't think anyone is born a loser. I doubt there's a loser gene. How do you define loser anyway? Someone who can't win, no matter what? IS there a person born like that? Of course people can change.

I suppose I should clarify what I meant by "quitter": You are niether a winner nor a loser because you refuse to even play the game...

I would play this "game" or whatever, but no one will teach me. It's not something I can learn alone.

I agree with Grisha. I get the feeling that you want us to say you are a loser so that you can use it as an excuse not to try and improve, for example, I dont like doing math. At school I would say, i'm no goood at math. I never bothered to try so I failed my exam.

When fnord said loser is as loser does, thats what I did with math I said i'm bad at math, so I was bad at math. If I said i'm a loser i would start to act like a loser and make myself a loser. But that doesnt mean I cant ever be good at math. I could be, I just have no interest and can't be bothered to try.

Nobody was born a loser, that's a rather stupid notion. I don't think there is such thing a "loser". "Loser" is just a derogatory term of describing a misfortunate person. You're not a loser, but I agree that your attitude should change, and ASAP. People who starts threads like this, or threads like "I'm too slow, other people are more advanced", etc you basically unveil your misfortune to the entire world on purpose. And this is even a poll, you just care too much what other people think of you, why the hell would one care what other random people (that you've never met) on the internet think about you? It's like walking on the street, and asking passers by "Am I a loser"? "Do I look okay" etc. etc... What do you think those people will tell you?? obviously strangers will want to harm you and take advantage of you. Here is the proof I am right, look at the poll.

The only people that you should care about and should care about you are your RL friends and familiy, and if you don't have any, go take care of yourself. Threads like this are not the solution to your problem!

You complain about your life a lot and seem determined to cling to the idea that you can't do a thing about it. It's not about where you're at, but where you're going.

Like others have said, you don't lose by failing to succeed. You lose by failing to even try, or by giving up when you could have succeeded had you kept going.

The circumstances of your life seem difficult, but you seem to have no desire to try to improve things for yourself. No matter how difficult you find things, people will give you a hand if they can see that you're really trying your best.

To the people that keep saying I don't try, or have no desire to play a "game" or whatever, tell me why should I?

What's the use of extending a bunch of energy on something that has virtually no chance of succeeding, especially after so many failed attempts in the past. I mean I can barely take care of myself as is.

I'm just too inferior and inadequate. I'm ugly, poor, slow, uneducated, and I struggle mightily to relate to people and converse. I mean, no one wants to be around a person like that anyway
