My knee jerk reaction would be trauma, but then I'd figure that was just me projecting my own crap (I never know for sure with things like that and assume I am wrong in my initial reactions because of my past). After I took a second to readjust, I'd likely figure that socialization was less than desirable and that there would be no point in going to be around a bunch of people there was no fondness for in the first place. The speak of professors being alright would make me think it was socialization as there seemed no apparent beef with the teachers or learning aspects.

She hated the fellow students, bullies… etc.

I would avoid reunions because if I see a former bully I would probably smash their face with some pie, I don’t care if they changed.

Yes, it’s probably best to avoid them. Carrying around pie can be very inconvenient and enticing.
