Well, you make a point, but it's not the same thing. It seems that men and women tend in general to take different approaches, men typically being more analytical and women being less so (more emotional or illogical?), but that says nothing about capacity. It may also be a matter of social perspective and conditioning.

Traditionally I have met more guys fitting the definition of clever I have presented than girls.

Such facts as that for example in chess there are separate tournaments for men and women usually and women tends to perform worse (only a couple of them in worlds top 100 by FIDE ranks) and, as was mentioned by someone else in this topic, similar situation exists in various internet forums drawing clever people (they are male dominated), proves this subjective opinion to some extent.

Anyway, I am sure this is not an absolute rule, but probably it is much harder for a clever guy to find a clever girl than vice-versa because the proportion is far from 1:1.

Well, with that kind of definition, I'd agree.

I would have described Dorothy Parker as "clever", but I don't think she'd fit your definition!

Oh, and I forgot, since I'm posting here I might as well make a suggestion. OkCupid seems to fit your criteria. And there are quite a few people there you might consider clever. Many would be happy to chat a while about the matching algorithms or whatever. It's built around like a bazillion test questions that are supposed to divide the user base to narrow down possibilities. I make no promises, but it's kinda fun to try at least. If you're not into the matching, you'll stay for the tests.

In my life I have probably met only three clever females (as per definition above) - of course, it is hard to say for sure because two of these three I know relatively little so I might be wrong about them and also there are other girls around me who might be clever but I don't know enough about them to find that out.

Sorry for my English by the way as it is not my native language.

One thing that should be noted it that (to my knowledge) the majority of forum based communication is carried out between males. Men seem to be the primary Internet users. Possibly this is a self-perpetuating trend, as any woman attempting to join an online community will be inundated with sexist opinions and harassment. So, it is unfair to use the proportions of the genders present in smart-arse forums as basis for judgement, as there are fewer women on the Internet anyway, intelligent or not.

Not sure about chess, but I always thrashed my brother at monopoly. :P

I've been looking at OKCupid myself and I don't see a lot of intelligent people. I may do some more browsing though, in search of them. When they have horrid grammar and talk more about movies and going out places than anything else though, that turns me off rather quickly...

Go to "Matches" > "Improve Matches" and start answering questions. Once you've answered a few hundred, your matches should be much better. Granted, I've never really seen anybody that particularly stands out to me, but there are plenty of intelligent people around.

I think Epluribusunum who knows a lot from observing and analysing both genders, should pick a gender that is clever. It seems he would have a better chance with a "clever" guy than a woman since there's very few out there. Based on his fact if it is a fact, the odds of a "clever" female would be too high. :hail:

I would love to meet somebody here but the gender ratio is far too unfavorable for us guys...
