Hmmm, just as I thought. Judging by this sample, and common logic, it seems that higher testosterone levels may play a part in autism and Asperger's. Perhaps Simon Baron-Cohen's theory of the "hypermasculine brain" may be right.
For those who do not know about the link between digit ratios and testosterone, there is quite a bit on the internet about this. Basically, a shorter index finger in both sexes indicates a higher level of testosterone than estrogen. Most males have this pattern, while most females have a longer index finger than ring finger. Interestingly, most of the aspie females on this forum, myself included, have the typical male pattern and most of the men also have the typical male pattern......again indicating that higher testosterone in both sexes = masculine brain, which is linked to a higher likelihood of Asperger's.
