People should consider the repercussions of giving dangerous advice on this matter to a vulnerable person. This isn’t a movie or fairy tale. The majority of the time it’s a bad idea to date someone who is just getting out of prison. Perhaps if he rebuilds his life and proves that he’s worthy, it’ll be a different matter.

If you mean I am giving advice, no I am simply raising points to be considered. Personally I would be concerned about Jerry, more for the reason that he might be prone to violence than specifically because he's been in prison. If I were the OP, I would prefer to meet under some sort of supervision, however I don't know whether the resources are available for that to happen. I would not be in favor of her simply inviting him to her house with nobody around other than her brother.

I don't think he's been released yet. If she does have plans to meet up with him after his potential release, I would hope she could tell somebody on WP beforehand. Honestly the situation is really out of our hands.

BTW I am wondering if Jerry's a veteran? Many veterans get into scrapes with the law.

She’s asked for advice, so we are in a position to help and provide counsel based on lived-experience.

Once again OP, it might be a good idea to talk to a counselor about the situation in your day program. They will be able to provide advice based on your specific situation and needs that many of us can’t.

I'd want to know how many other people Jerry is writing to.
Some people have a thing for incarcerated partners.
I think it provides a sense of safety but also an outlet to believe in someone.
There's something romantic about "Bad Boys" and "Bad Ass Women" either way.

My point is that lots of people might be interested in this nice guy "who only did vandalism".
They could feel sorry for him. They imagine his lust building up over time.
Chances are he's had sex in prison whether with men or however he'd get with women.

He can evade questions by saying he's not allowed to talk or break rules.

It's all very convenient in many ways.

I agree that convicts aren't necessarily bad people but it's way too hard to know with him.
Meeting him once or even twice wouldn't prove much.
I dated my exh for six years before learning what a diabolical psycho he was.

The prison thing gives you more reason to expect he has poor impulse control.
That's not usually a good thing.

Given how manipulative people can be and how vulnerable and naïve the OP is, it only makes sense that they let this unfold very gradually and only after Jerry has proven himself through reintegration into society, having decent friends, earning a living (unless he’s disabled), etc.

Sometimes it can take 6 months, a year, or longer for abusers to show their true colors, especially for those of us who struggle with recognizing early warning signs.

Yes, his worth. His net worth. Always look at the net not the gross worth.

Mentioning the advantages of gold-digging works every time :)

And I don't even ask to be paid for my rescue services!

So true. Look at me for example. I'm a hot number in the fantasies of thousands of women online, but when they meet me in real life, they bawl their eyes out within the first hour. I feel so bad for them. I try to comfort them by patting them on the back and saying, "There, there".

Sometimes it's even faster than one hour. One time, when I met the woman at the airport and we saw each other for the first time in real life, and I said "Hello", she bawled her eyes out immediately, and through her choked up voice, she said tearily, "You're not the man I thought you were!"

See, what happened is that when I said "Hello", that was the moment when she heard my voice for the first time, and she realized I wasn't a baritone. I'm a tenor in real life, but in her fantasy, she had made me a baritone. So she burst into tears as soon as I said "Hello".

Together, we made a virtual tombstone for her fantasy man. That seemed to help accelerate her grieving process and help her move on. Then she flew back home. Some of the women prefer virtual cremation rather than a virtual tombstone. I'm happy either way. Whatever works best for the woman is the right answer, I always say.

^ I know for a fact that many women will only date tenors. This peculiar datum should be discussed more on WP instead of the numerous threads about physical attributes like: long, flowing nose hair, perfect earlobes, and forearms.

Perhaps women who like baritones are more likely to meet people at airports.

Help me here.

I always get vocal ranges mixed up because I'm tone deaf.

Which of these is the baritone or tenor, and which sounds most like you?

Pick the lucky voice of my dreams and we might be able to hook up, or at least dig a grave.

I have some good books on that.

There are some Jiffy Grave services here, where you can be dead and buried in under an hour.

I did think it was odd that she chose to fly such a short distance that it took longer to go through the departure and arrival airports than it would've taken to just walk the distance. She mentioned she loves flying. It must be the roar of the engines. Airplanes have huge engines. I never really thought about the vocal ranges of airplane engines, but they must be loud baritones.

Well, I made the mistake of immediately scrolling down all the way, so I saw Adele and fell in love with her straight away, and then I only watched Adele and forgot about watching Neil Diamond and Lionel Richie altogether. Maybe tomorrow I'll plug in the loudspeakers and play the video again so I can hear her sing as well.

But anyway, I don't need to listen to the men. You already revealed the answer. Considering you said you're tone deaf, you must love the voice of Lionel Richie, because I know his voice and it's just beyond all belief the most nerve-wracking voice I've ever heard, like he's singing with chalk on a blackboard instead of an actual living human voice. I'll kill myself with chopsticks before I'll voluntarily turn up the volume while Lionel Richie is singing.

As for their vocal ranges, again reality and fantasy are different, because it's a myth that a singer is one particular vocal range such as baritone. In reality, singers can sing across 2 or 3 vocal ranges. The abominable Lionel Richie can sing tenor and baritone, whereas Neil Diamond can sing tenor, baritone, and bass. Adele can sing the entire female range from soprano to contralto.

Does their price include the euthanasia or does that cost extra?

Err... not that I actually really need to know. I was just curious. Obviously I wouldn't really pay for their euthanasia service (although, I would make an exception for Lionel Richie. For him I'd pay double).

IsabellaLinton -- I'm sorry if I offended you when I described Lionel Richie. It's just that I can't stand it when my ears bleed. It requires a lot of tissues to clean up the blood pools. Then I have to purchase more tissues in the supermarket, and I hate purchasing tissues, because typical people are so judgmental. They presume I'm buying tissues because I masturbate a lot. This forces me to shout at random strangers in the supermarket, "I'm PROUD of being a w*ker, you judgmental a**hole! Look here, I'm so proud of it that now I'm going to fill my entire shopping cart with tissues!"

^ I experience something similar when I buy carrots although I tend to be a bit more bashful about it. To avoid probable confusion, I tell all of the staff that the carrots are for cooking and that I have specific recipes in mind.

^^ It's a pity you didn't discuss this topic with Isabella sooner. She would've told you that cucumbers are better.

I should really clarify that I meant any woman, not specifically Isabella.

Any woman... Previously I thought small Japanese women preferred to buy carrots, but I was wrong. A small Japanese women told me sternly that she buys cucumbers the same as "fat European women". She was really quite offended by the suggestion that she wouldn't like to buy cucumbers. I promised solemnly to never repeat my racist remarks about smaller women preferring to buy smaller vegetables.

Of all the men in the world who can't provide for your needs, he's the one who can't provide for them the most.

It would happen much sooner, and in a much safer manner, if you would just simply stop treating the dozens of nice guys around you as if they are invisible. In other words, if you would stop lusting for bad boys who hurt women.

Why are you assuming there's nice guys around her that she's treating as invisible? Or that she's 'lusting for bad boys who hurt women'? There is nothing in this thread that implies that.
