im curious what the dating scene is like today for aspies, hfa'a and nvld's.when is was in puberty in the 1980's sex, love, romance and dating for autistics was pretty much a non issue.most autistics then claimed to be pretty much asexual, although donna williams did discover lust in her late thirties.you guys today seem to know alot about love, sex and dating.im married now at thirty five.what is the dating scene like for you generation y auties and aspies

Well for me, 100% non-existent. I know bugger-all about dating, love, sex etc. No one has taught me about it (or at least I didn't want to know about it when school taught me about it), so seeing it everywhere around and on the TV is the most confusing thing ever.

It's the media that is hyping love, sex and dating, but I know nothing about it because no one will explain it to me.

I can only speak for myself-
I seem to face a lot of difficulty due to
being both Aspergian
and quite fat/ugly.
Either one alone perhaps could be overcome,
but together?

It's hopeless.

Well, the dating "scene" is lots of parties and social events and bright lights...pretty much an Aspie's worst nightmare. But staying away from the "scene" it goes something like this: Meet a girl, talk to her like Mr. Smooth, meet her for coffee, then tell her she has pretty eyes (girls love that stuff) then go to dinner, then have sex with her, then continue to date her while reassuring her insecurities...yeah, another nightmare. Of course, this is just the overgeneralized version of it, but you wanted to know about the scene, so that's it. Staying away from the "scene" (which revolves around deception, money and sex...trust me, I know) and talking to someone outside of the scene is a lot better. Of course, everyone in the U.S. is brought up to the scene whether they realize it or not. Disney movies reenforce this Mr. Perfect ideal, and then movies in theaters reenforce it a second time. So finding a girl that isn't into this stuff is just as hard as finding a guy that isn't into this stuff. I've found the best way to meet someone is at school or at work, and just hang out, and be friends, and see where it goes. It works for me. Everyone is different, so... whatever works for them.
