How to find a church of Christ woman?
Hi yall,
How do you suggest finding someone who is church of Christ besides my local church? I have not found anyone at my new church yet. I feel like my only option is to just wait for someone to show up at church. My church has a young adults class but it seems like most people in that class are either married or already dating someone. The Church of Christ is really in deep decline and most member are way older than me like Baby Boomers and Silent Generation and the Greatest Generation and very little in my age group. Its a massively shrinking dating pool.

I mean I know you are not so fond of hearing things like this, but like do you really believe what your parents taught you? Because beyond what they taught you there is a whole new world out there. And you can certainly choose to experience it even if your parents would disapprove. Idk I just don't want you to be stuck...so I feel it might be healthy to keep an open mind to people who don't have the exact same beliefs. Also, idk did you ever do confirmation classes, like to find out if you really want to stick to Christianity or not? I did it twice and well I just could not get into the beliefs so I am an athiest/satanist but I tried the confirmation classes two times before I gave up and decided religion just wasn't for me. LIke you have to do what is right for you, if sticking to the religion feels right do that, but if you have questions nothing wrong with exploring a bit around to really find yourself.
sorry if I am being the devil...but idk I think the devil is cool...he just wants to welcome all the misfits.

I actually disagree with my parents on so many different religious issues. I think that the rich should give all their money to the poor but my parents and nobody in the church of Christ that I know of believe that despite the fact that Jesus said that himself. The church of Christ has never done confirmation. I want to explore my religious beliefs by starting a church of Christ plant that believes like I do. I cant choose to experience a whole new world because then I would be homeless and my parents control all my money. Their house their rules so realistically I will have to wait until they die until I live by my own rules.

Well dude what the hell, even my religion the united methodist church encouraged us to like find our own beliefs and like it was cool if we decided not to stick with the church. But yeah it just seems like you've never gotten a chance to explore and really figure out what you personally believe in. Seems like your parents tried to decide for you what you'd be like before you were even born. I have sometimes been jealous of people with more money but from what I have heard from your experience is in families like that you have to conform or be cut out. But if you decide the religion is not for you and they do cutt you off...you could get room-mates to move out. Like there is always some option for living even if you have to start out living with a bunch of crappy room-mates. All us people without family money have to do all that anyways and many of us make it. I guess its more a matter of does the lifestyle your parents offer if you conform really beat being more free...like even if you did not have the same financial support from them like would you rather keep the support or go your own way? I mean neither of my parents had enough money to offer me support when I moved out so that was that. But I am still ok and in a long term relationship even without my parents supporting me.
scuse me I just had to smash a roach in my apartment, that said I'd rather live in this apartment with the from time to time roach than convert back to christianity.
Anyways Texas moneyman I wish you the best but like do be aware and don't let your parents take advantage of you.

But would you need a group home? like good luck with her getting you put into one if you don't need it, like they wont accept you as a resident if you don't need it. And seems like aside from your parents treatment like you probably are way more capable then they have allowed you think of yourself as.
Sometimes parents are wrong...
Also all the section 8 means is they could help you get reduced rent if you are on SSI, I actually applied for it and got approved but it was around when I got together with my boyfriend and I wouldn't have been able to have him move in cause his income was slightly to high to qualify so I ended up turning it down cause I had my boyfriend and the only way he could afford to stay here was for us both to go in on a rent So we did move in together a bit earlier than we had planned. But yeah he would not have been able to live with me in the subsidized housing so I had to turn that down and let it go to the next person. BUt if you get anything like SSI it could be an option if you don't have a partner yet to get subsidized housing...which may at least give you a chance to live away from your parents.

I dont think I need a group home. I just feel like I could live by myself if I made enough money for rent. My parents pay for my sister's apartment but I dont think they have the money for me from their personal accounts. I may be able to convince my dad to take some of the company bank account to get me apartment but most likely not.
I recently found out that my parents will control my trust fund and will control how I spend it for the rest of my life until they they release it to me. I will not be under their direct control on a daily basis but it could limit my options and they will decide how the money is spent until then.

Well does that mean you don't have SSI? cause in that case you could make your own bank account without your parents and start saving money in there, that they can't touch. But you could still play along with them, just don't tell them about your personal savings account in the local credit union

But like without that limit I could have saved 900 a few times and just given it to my boyfriend to put into our savings. But SSi doesn't really allow for that so yeah for the most part if I get a tax return I spend it right away so I don't get cutt off the SSI for having too much money in my account. Cause yeah I guess they don't like it if you give the money to someone else to hold onto, like they want to see you spent it. So yeah last time I wanted a PC anyways plus it was getting anying with me and my boyfriend having to share the xbox, so I figured a gaming PC would allow us both to play video games at the same time rather than fighting over the Xbox for gaming time. My boyfriend prefers playing on a PC anyways and I prefer the xbox and controller. So like basically I got my boyfriend a PC even though sometimes I pretend its mine, but he plays games on it way more often than I do and part of the reason I got it was cause he said he preferred playing on a PC and so I figured we have an xbox, I guess I will get a PC with my tax return so my boyfriend can play on there while I play the xbox. That said I do like to play with the color settings set on the fans cause the PC is eqipped with many lights and you can get different patterns/colors for them and such and there is a way to set them to music I have not tried that yet though. But yeah I wasn't planning on getting one its just I got a bigger tax return than I figured and I needed to get the money out of my account ASAP, and a big computer purchase seemed the quickist way...for sure though I am not at all disappointed I had to buy 900 dollar PC because it works really well. But like its kind of f****d up if you are on SSI you aren't allowed to save more than 2,000 at or you risk losing benefits. And like with that how is an SSI person supposed to get ahead, well I guess they don't want us getting ahead. LIke the only way is to find a partner that is not as disabled and marry them I guess, so than at least you can save however much you want without a limit of 2,000 dollars. But yeah I Like the PC but yeah i for sure felt like I had to buy it fast to get rid of the excess money in my account so SSI didn't make a problem of it. Cause for a minute it was like 3,000 so yeah I had to get rid of some of the money right away to keep it under 2,000.

My parents set up a special needs trust for me so I could retain SSDI/SSI and medicaid/medicare and still get the inheritance from them.

Wait is that what they told you? No dude if you have autism or whatever you can get SSI without your parents...you have to apply for it, get denied first because they always deny it initially and then you get a disability attorney to appeal it with you. It's not up to your parents if you get it or not, its up to the state. The only thing is they may deduct if you are living with family and they are covering some of your costs. But even then you'd still get whatever amount is left after the deductions. But nah for SSI also if they think you need a payee it does not have to be family like they have certified payees that are required to spend the money on your wellbeing if they deem its not best to give you the money directly you can apply for like a professional payee who will use your money fairly for you if you cant trust a family member with it. But yeah if you have a disability and want to get on disability there is nothing your parents can legally do to stop you. All you have to do is prove to the state you have a disability that makes finding/keeping a job hard and that you haven't worked long enough for SSDI.

I NEVER thought I would be able to successfully become independant from my parents but...I did!! !
It sucks that in order for that to happen my mom had to suffer a stroke
Maybe a similar thing must happen with you @Texasmoneyman300?
Before you can start looking for a woman to date and marry?
In my former religious community, members would sometimes drive to different churches for services within the same denomination looking for single people. I don’t know of any times where it actually worked out, though. It was often really awkward. I tended to avoid them when a group would come to my church because I was so shy. Most of my time would be spent in the bathroom or talking to some “sister” I didn’t necessarily like that much. I was the only single woman there for years. That only happened once or twice that I can remember. They probably heard through the grapevine that the options were few there, so they often went to other churches in my area.

I just feel like my parents will have to pass before I can afford to live my life.

Or just have a health emergency that puts them in a rest home environment and takes them "out of the picture"
Without dying!! !
