I've considered it, and I've been in Apsie groups before. I just can't really tolerate them much. There was a meetup group for Aspies, but it wound up attracting everyone with social anxiety disorder and all these other frustrating problems, and everyone was so damned shy no one took the initiative.

And at the end of the day, I don't want to be associated with aspies, or known as an aspie. I want to be normal, and I want to be liked for being normal. I think too often Aspies blame themselves. They just wallow. At least I try and make an effort to put myself out there, and now, I think maybe I'll just opt for a more solitary life, and be content in that. But at least I tried to reach out.

Why don't go to a autistic group that has activities or outings. Anxiety is common in autism. The group I go to most people are chatty. I on the other hand very shy.

That's your problem. You aren't normal. Embrace your uniqueness and stop wallowing......... The sooner you become comfortable with yourself the sooner the right people (including women) will be comfortable around you.

I'm trying to make myself into the kind of person people will like. Because honestly, when I've met or interacted with other aspies (including some in my own family) I feel loathing. I think, "Is that how I come across?" And so I resolved to better myself. What we have to deal with can be overcome, and we can fit in. I aspire to be accepted. It's why I make films as a career...so I can reach out to those around me. I love the work, and I love the response I get when people love what I do, and it gets me closer to being accepted.

Honestly, if I had to give up everything that made me who I was, for friends, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

NTs in general in this age range seems to lie about everything. Only for me to find out. But didn't you know? How on earth are you suppose to find out when they don't tell the truth. Everything is about, reading between the lines. I went to meetup.com groups. Only to find the socializing a bunch of lies. Because as soon as I started noticing the differences they said each time we met. How do you trust anybody. If I'm all about worrying what lie are they going to tell next. Bringing facts to the party doesn't help when everybody brings a bag of lies. So I am there for not required, unwanted in the group. I guess you will have to wait for a person that will appreciate your honesty and your gift. That goes for friends and for romantic relationships.
