How do I diminish my friendship with someone?

I see what you're trying to say, and I do not consider them any less of a person just because they can't be bothered with anything intelligent. However, I do think of them as unintelligent, and that is justified, IMO. If they talked about something smart even once a "year", voluntarily, and enjoyed the discussion, I wouldn't call them stupid, but if someone talks about stupid stuff their entire waking life, and then dreams about stupid stuff when they're sleeping(I know this because they told me), then yes, they are unintelligent.

I don't have any "friends" like yours, but there was this friend of mine, we were good friends, but there were a lot of things that I didn't like. She was insanely jealous of certain people and would talk down about them. She would complain so much about everything, and whenever I tried to talk about my problems/or complain, she would tell me that it was nothing, and then change the subject to talk about herself and her problems, rather than saying "oh that sucks, I'm sorry." She invited herself to my house and snooped through my things, even after I told her not to be looking in my private drawers. She borrowed 2 books of mine, one came back like a month later, even though I had asked several times for it back before that. The other came back ruined, with water damage on the pages and stains. I was furious and I cut off contact with her completely. I avoided everywhere she hung out at school, ignored calls etc, just cut off contact with them without actually saying "I don't want to talk to you anymore".
