Coworkers nice one day and cold the next
I think social awkwardness works both ways. If it is hard for you to socialize it is likely to be equally difficult for a "normal" person to socialize with someone with autism. It may be that they will only socialize with you under certain conditions. If they have work to do or have recently been hassled by a customer they may not feel like putting in the effort to socialize with someone with autism.
There is something you may be able to do about it. If you have an excellent memory you may be able to maintain a long running conversation of a mutual interest. Or at least the interest of the person you are talking to. You may just need to remind that person about where the conversation left off that time so the person can continue where they left off.
