Often the reason people get upset with aspies, its that they misinterpret the behavior as narcissism.

So learning a few things about narcissism, is i believe a good idea in order to understand beater what NTs think of you, when you socially mess up. (this is why i'm putting the post in the social skills thread)

This guy(Sam Vaknin) is seriously narcissistic, he wrote a book and is on youtube. I've seen a documentary on him once, the way he treat other people is absolutely horrible.

his site http://www.narcissistic-abuse.com/

specifically on aspergers.

-----edit-----

documentary, where you see him in action

I find it interesting that most call others narcissistic when they generally act in their self-interest the majority of the time...

In my case, it's narcissists themselves who do that, I'd suggest to anyone with ASD that get accused of such behaviours to take a look at the accuser before estimating if their accusations are worth the time.

Don't jump at me by saying 'Ad hominem logical fallacy', I actually believe ad hominem is valid a lot of the time, so it won't terribly phase me.

But how easy is it to read their intent? Their upbringing? A lot of room for misunderstanding there Bun.

SanityTheorist, I might have sympathy for someone if I know their history, but I don't think that in the case of being manipulated by a narcissist, one stops to think about their reasons. However, researches do suggest a few reasons, for people who wish to understand it.

What I meant was, that if an autistic person gets told they're selfish, when there's no ill intent on behalf of the autistic person, what the other person is trying to say to you is 'How dare you not pay attention to ME', which they feel entitled to. And I'm not talking about normal instances of this example, I'm talking about being abused on that background - which I can only say I was in hindsight. It's often hard to have a sort of relationship with a narcissist without trying to justify their behaviour, because they make it seem like they're right about it, or that you have a personal interest to cooperate with them.
