Could we (or do we, if my search skills are failing once again) have a place to list local support group meetings?

In St. Louis we have a small (very small) meetup group which will hopefully start meeting at the Judevine Center for Autism (I'm trying to work out billing matters with Judevine atm). It's called SLAM: St. Louis Aspergers Meetup. But we're considereing changing it to St. Louis Autism Meetup to include a greater range of people. It includes right now both Aspies and parents. We've been meeting at local libraries. We also have a subgroup for young adults to socialize but at present it's on ice. It's called BONSAI: Becoming Our Natural Selves as Autistic Individuals.

We try to meet once a month (the SLAM group that is), though right now with my trying to work all this out with Judevine, things are a little shaky so we didn't have a meeting this month. :?

I'm also on Matrixowners.com board (though not real active, my opinions are a little too "unique" for their tastes  ) and they have a section with forums for each part of the country where clubs can post their meets and shows. I thought it might be cool to do something like that here only global, obviously, so if I'm ever in Austalia/Canada/UK/St. Louis I can hook up with some other folks like myself. :D

Well, the Alabama Autism Society has an Aspergers support group for parents that meets on the 1st friday of the month at 6:00pm at St. Marks Methodist church. Go to www.autism-alabama.org or www.aascg.com for details.
There is also an Adults with Aspergers group starting. Next meeting is Jan 8, place tba. Check www.aascg.com for info on it also.

Langley doesn't have anything of that sort. You guys are very lucky. I suppose I could start a group. :D Oh, yeah...I don't have the money. :(

No, we don't have a list like that although I think it would be a good idea.

hm...what forum for it? General? Members?

Either forum would be good. Members, I suppose, 'cause it involves people's locations. I think a list like that is a great idea though. Especially if we expand it to include people who are looking for a group in various areas, so there's the possibility of joining up and starting one.

Just my thinking, and there may be administrative reasons why not that I'm not aware of, but what I was thinking was this...Add a resources section with separate forums depending on where the geographic need sems to be. If only mods could view members location info, perhaps they would be more likely to give it in their profile. For example, right away there seems to be concentrations of members in Australia, UK/Europe, Canada, and US probably broken into Southeast, Northeast, Central and Western. I'm assuming the site will continue to grow and a structure such as this would make it such that someone looking for local resources could find them without wading through pages of irrelevant info.
Again, just my $.02.
