Should people on the spectrum need looking after forever?
Apparently, she believes that even if and when I am independant, I would need checking up on... now and again.
o_O
... How exactly is that being independant? Of course I wouldn't shut her out but even that would assume I am still dependant.
You sure she's not just a helicopter mom?

Hard to say as the close relatives follow suit... minus those who give their own opinions... which doesn't help.

Sora: "My friends are my power."
Ventus: "I'm asking you as a friend. Just... put an end to me."
At this point, it is hard to tell what that means. You would have to get her to tell you what her specific concerns are.
My thoughts:
Think about it like this: There are NT kids that leave the house and can take care of themselves entirely at 18 or 22 or whatever age. Then there are kids, who leave the nest, but are not completely independent yet. They come home to do laundry, some have there parents pay some of their bills...some move back in. Now, mind you, this is variance amongst NT kids leaving home. (I know some of you will argue that is the parents' fault, but this is not the point of my example, and I am not trying to go on to a different tangent.)
So it seems to me that there would be variance with AS kids, too. Some are mature enough to leave home (at whatever age), and take care of their own lives themselves. Some are not. Some might be ready to move out, but maybe need help with some things. So the person could stay home until he/she is completely ready, or might try a trial run, where he/she still get help for a few things while the person tests out independent living skills. Think of it as kind of like assisted living, but in reverse, where you would go from less independence to more independence.
I do not know if this is what your mother means, or if she is just so worried about you that she cannot fathom you being completely on your own. Maybe she is overprotective or maybe it is the opposite and thinks you should try something in between complete independence and living at home before you are totally 100% ready, but with help.
You would have to ask her why she would think you would need checking in on, and what specifically she thinks you would need help with, assuming she even knows.

Well, I don't know how old you are...are you planning to leave home soon for college or something like that?

No, but I'm just thinking about moving out the country and living abroad... I think there is concern about my judge of character and see nothing wrong in a terrible situation and associating myself with the wrong crowd (drugs, alcohol, smoking and criminals).
It's hard because I do care about them but I feel as though I would have to cut ties at some point in the future... as I can't see both sides will be accepting.

She thinks financially I would be terrible because she feels I would spend excessively.
I personally can't see her problems as I think I'd fair better than some of the people.u
