I was 49 when, as a result of a nervous breakdown at work, I was diagnosed and treated by hypno-regression therapy for asperger's syndrome - and it was like a light went on in my head - at work my performance improved so much I was promoted back to back three years running until I was the highest paid designated engineer in the office and asked to coach and counsel others like me in my profession by intranet - two years later I was coaching and counseling others all around the world by internet - the diagnosis challenged my legal competence for my job so I fought to prove my legal competence and won - but all my professional colleagues who also had it took early retirement / voluntary redundancy leaving me to look after the fort - that was okay as I discovered I had broader shoulders than I had ever imagined and stayed on until the official state retirement age for men. It was a bit of a white knuckle ride - but nothing like as white knuckle as the ride I'd had until I was diagnosed. So, I refreshed my general knowledge and writing skills and wrote an autobiographical trilogy and compendium and published it on Kindle and it rocketed overnight to the top of the UK Amazon Bestsellers list in my genre / niche and a week later it was at the top of the global Amazon Bestsellers list in my genre / niche. As a result, Arianna Huffington, the Editor in Chief of the New York based Huffington Post offered me a featured author slot on that publication, so I'm no longer an engineer but a writer.

I had always been a back-room boffin, and a shrinking violet to boot. But I had a brilliant engineering career in official secrets act work, so no-one but my immediate boss had any idea what I did. I couldn't even tell my wife and family. So I'm a bit stifled in what I write about, but my early life to seven and a half was so bizarre that it filled the first book and the second book covered my life from then until I published them and the other two.
