Everywhere I go I am assaulted and CONSTANTLY bombarded with these 2 subjects!

In music, on TV, on radio shows etc

I choose to reject societal conditioning!!

I know why this is happening (to offset the current relationship recession) but it's SO annoying to listen to a song or watch a show and have them mention the words "marriage" or "motherhood" every 5 seconds while neglecting all other parts of life that can bring fulfillment like a career!

In that sense, marriage and parenting are both OVERRATED, hence the name of my blog Marriage & Motherhood Overrated

Maybe listen to or watch different things? Is it your family that's pestering you, by playing this content? Who's doing all the pestering? Did you ask them to please simmer down?

I'm betting she's upset with the media in general for promoting this & it's not coming from her family. I've read a bit of posts here in the past from chronically single guys who were angry with the media because they were feeling pressured to be married despite them majorly struggling to get any relationship. This is not the situation for the OP though since she's engaged.

This seems more like a personal obsession rather than society's obsession.

Marriage is a common institution within society, so it makes sense that there's a lot of references to it. That's not the same as being obsessed with it however.

Whereas, when it's most of what a person talks about, with rapidly shifting perspectives, that comes off much more like a personal obsession.
