Why The Left is a bigger threat Than the Right

I just want a discussion and show my opinion. I don't want to convert anybody, not the purpose of this thread.

Judging from that video, people like him are the big threat. Any one that refers to the US Democrats as "The left" is clueless.

The right is a bigger threat because they're the ones trying to gut my social security which is my only income.

Looking at his channel, this YouTuber has…interesting content, and by “interesting,” I mean alt-right BS.

Having watched the video, it appears to be nothing more than incredibly uninformed venting/emotion-based nonsense.

As far as who is the bigger threat? The right. Political violence on the right, for instance, is a bigger issue.

I'm not seeing any executed Republican senators this term.

This YouTuber is a libertarian who apparently regards taxation as the greatest evil, and who therefore regards "the left" (by which he apparently means anyone who favors anything less than 100% pure free-market capitalism) as "more of a threat" because "the left" is more likely to raise taxes.

He dismisses right-wing threats to people's rights on the grounds that increased restrictions on abortion, for example, are unlikely to come to pass. He said this in 2019. Obviously he was wrong about that.

Yes, arguably there should have been a bunch of executions to come out of the coup and multiple coup attempts over the last 25 years just to stop the madness.

As a practical matter trying to apply left and right in this fashion doesn't always work. While the Soviets and Nazis were ostensibly on different ends of the spectrum, they did share a bunch of troubling things in common including executing people for wrongthink.

I'd rather have it managed and financed by a lower level of government. I'm not necessarily against social programs.

Even if all the conservatives and libertarians (or heck, anybody tired with the current status quo of the left) the got their own island, I very doubt the left of them at large will allow them separate statehood or independence. I don't lose it because Japan, an island country thousands of miles away, has socially conservative culture and policies, like their immigration policies.

Depends on whether you mean the cultural or economic left. I can tolerate the latter but have a harder time standing the former.

Social programs NEED to be financed primarily at the highest possible level. If the financing were primarily local, then the localities with the greatest need would be least able to afford it.

Why?

Anyhow, the video you posted was primarily about the latter, not the former.

The answer depends on when you ask and your opinion what is the greatest threat. Is it the amount of and lethality of violence or what poses the greatest danger to the republic?

In 2020 during the “great awokeining” I argued it was the left because despite the right being behind the most political violence and the most lethal violence because the left was gaining control of institutions and the narrative at lightning speed.

In 2025 there is no argument it is the right by every metric. The right controls all three branches of government allowing them to pass illiberal policies and muting checks and balances.

The big picture is that we have been in a cycle of action, stronger reaction, stronger reaction to the stronger reaction with zero some thinking predominant. This has left the center, supporters of checks and balances, civility etc politically impotent. This is because when we call out extremism on one side we bolster or validate extremists on the other side, the classic no win situation. We flunk everybody’s purity tests.
