Just don't pay attention to Pepe, or others. (I love Pepe dearly, but some don't get his humor.)

Also, look for the threads where the WP addicts don't hang out.

Thanks cyberdad, Pepe and sylkat.

Pepe, how does 11 am sound? I take my coffee with cream and sugar.

Alex, I second sylkat’s thanks for all you do for WP. I have learned so much here.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is an autism site & us autistics are known for having horrible social skills. We can s#ck at reading people, others can often misread us, & we also tend to be literal. For example there's been LOTS of arguments in L&D during my time here due to the fact that posters did not specify that they were not talking about all women or all men. If a poster does not specifically say that they are only talking about some & do not men all, others get upset because they are not like that & do not want to be lumped in with everyone else. Due to autism literal thinking, we need to specificlly say that exceptios can & do exist. I started trying to get in the habit of posting disclaimers that say that.

Good point Nick....I need to rewire my NT brain occasionally otherwise I make a lot of assumptions on what cues folks here pick up.

I think that that is an EXCELLENT first step!
When we get an an antagonistic or hurtful response to a post, if we ask ‘Are you serious?’ Or ‘How did you mean that?’, and get a clarification.
If someone is indeed criticizing, ridiculing, or indeed trying to start something, then there is a clearly written statement that can be answered, disagreed with, or shown to the mods.
There is also a clear statement if someone was joking or being witty or facetious.

I refuse to participate in a forum that does not have the function to block people.

If I could block people, this site would be much more enjoyable.

It is possible, as long as you have the right browser.  There is a sticky thread somewhere that details the process.

...

Found it!  Here is a link to a significant post in the middle of that thread...

Discovered by a wise elder, or so I'm told.

I agree actually.

I end up avoiding whole threads in order to avoid people.

And building a 'foe' list. But I wonder - can they see that they're on there?

No, 'foe' list is not public. Neither is the 'friend' list for that matter. Only you can see your added friends and foes.

that would be a great site upgrade. anyways, it is not too hard to just "fast forwards" past offensive posters.

So if the goal of keeping a 'Foes' list is to display who is on it, then why not just post it somewhere and be done with it?

I'm not sure that would be a good idea and may cause some friction.

You'd think perseveration would make a foe list redundant.
