I can relate similar. I have a hard time "connecting" and carrying on meaningful communication with females. They use body language and emotions more that I, and I cannot communicate these things well, as a result, most of the females I know only as mere acquaintances. We only engage in mere "hi"'s in the hallway or some other just little talk like that...nothing meaningful at all. As far as males go, well, I relate and communicate much easier to the men around me. They are not picky at all about eye contact and body language as much. The guys I know also share in many of the same hobbies and interests, that I have found girls rarely engage in. When it comes to guys versus girls, I end up closer to the guys in my circle of life than girls, and I can see where that can develop into homosexuality if other guys have similar communications issues, just as it would in a prison situation for men. I am however not physically attracted to guys, but physically attracted to girls, which makes for an interesting paradox, and a major contributing factor as to why I'm still a virgin at age 34.
When it comes to "choosing" homosexuality though, it seems as if homosexuality has become more of a style and a fad nowadays than just a real, physiological thing, especially in big cities. An example of this is the many guys out there who are "metrosexual". The look and act like homosexual guys, but are physiologically heterosexual, and as far as I know, probably aren't attracted to guys, being that many I know are married or have girlfriends. There are, of course, the homosexual guys out there that don't look gay at all, and would fly under the "gaydar" of even best. They don't talk with a lisp, don't follow fashion, they don't wax their hair off their bodies, etc.
The ultimate question though, his how many guys go past the metrosexual thing, to full-fledged homosexuality in both lifestyle and sexual act. One thing that may be a factor for aspies too (at least for me it is) is that although I am sexually attracted and turned on by the physical and visual appearance of a beautiful girl, I do not need to be particularly attracted to the person that gives me sexual pleasure, so that person, can in fact, be a guy, despite the lack of connection or attraction to that person in any other way, shape or form.
