As one actor noted on his deathbed, death is easy, comedy is hard. Humanity evidently has taken advantage of a unique opportunity to combine the two (if you have a sardonic sense of humor).

Uh... yeah, sure... It'sll white people's fault...
Little bit racist there, maybe...? Kind of... oh, I dunno... ignoring the perverse and destructive nature of all humanity?

Need I mention, south east asia? South American drug lords? African war lords?
Media has well advertised the atrocities of caucasians, so has the history of caucasian nations... but did I see the OP blame the current worlds problems on one nations actions towards it's native population?

I'm probably going to take a lot of s**t for this, but I should point out that the African slave trade was greatly exacerbated by ethnic groups hostile to each other selling members of the other up the river...

Correct. The slave trade was major business in Africa long before Europeans ever got there.
The arrival of Europeans opened up a new trade route for a pre-existing thing. Though, from time to time, the Europeans or Americans would raid villages for slaves themselves, usually with a few dozen African mercenaries along. Let's face it, no race is crueler than another.
But, personally, I don't understand slavery. Not an Australian thing, never was.

Your aboriginals and our aboriginals are in similar situations.

Krap. Doody. They sold them down the river, not up. The large ships of commerce traveled along the coast; slaves were transported down the river to the ports. But yes, there were always chieftans willing to strike their enemies and make money by selling them into slavery. Simple historical fact.

Uh... slowmutant, what situation is that? The only real situation in Australia is alcoholism, etc., largely as a result of culture shock.

Thats pretty pervasive here in Canada too. Unemployment as well. I know your aboriginals suffer that too.

Slavery is an institution that's as old as time. It probably existed long before Biblical times, and it continued long after that period. It's been illegal here in North American since long before any of us were born, so I don't think we should have to keep apologizing for it. I don't know whether our governments have done enough to help the descendants of slaves enjoy the same economic privileges as the rest of the population (in the case of our respective aboriginals, they certainly have not) but those descendants have to put the past behind them and assume responsibility for their own lives.

Fun fact: the word "slave" comes from the word "Slav" for obvious reasons.

'Slav' is the modern-day word for 'slave' in several Scandinavian languages.

('poor black slave')
