I got inspired by some Facebook groups. I tried to have some humor, and the list is not meant to be taken entirely seriously.

1. We have the right to make fun of neurotypicals just because they’re neurotypical.
2. The Asperger’s pride logo is rainbow.
3. We can use exceptionally sophisticated vocabulary in daily conversation.
4. 1 in 10 people with autism have perfect pitch as opposed to the 1 in 10,000 of the general population.
5. Special interests allow us to acquire extreme amounts of knowledge on a subject even at a young age.
6. We are often sticklers for routine, so we can keep a routine.
7. Satoshi Tajiri, Albert Einstein, and Dan Akroyd all have or had it. Enough said.
8. We can have intellectual conversations that don’t involve sports or fashion.
9. We don’t care what people think of our interests as long as we find them interesting.
10. We have long memories.
11. A lot of us are great readers, mathematicians, and/or musicians.
12. Many of us are nerds and nerds are the most awesome people ever.
13. We’re often great writers (I can tell this is true by browsing the forum.
14. We don’t often waste our time with social games.
15. Aspies rule, NTs drool. :P

14 is the one I am most grateful for.
Incredibly.
No need for social interaction only leaves more energy for interests.

We have an excuse to be rude. If we hurt our feelings, too bad.

I'd still prefer to be a neurotypical. If the world was more accepting, then having AS would be great. However, I don't see how anyone would wan't to not have a family, not own a house and not having a good job.

I agree with you. Which is why my so called "reason" was a jokey/sarcastic one.
I just don't see the good side either tbh.

It's that high? I thought it was 1 in 20.

And when they display a sense of humour and have belief in themselves they can sometimes even be sexy. :flower:

I like no. 15.

Oh and no. 9. My sister called me a nerd so many times yesterday. So what? Excuse me for liking to learn about things than you, who sit on your ass all day and watch entertainment channels. And then she tells me a bit of celebrity gossip that I don't care for.
Sorry, it's Easter and the family is down.

I'm sure glad it's not to be taken entirely seriously, because it's choked full of "positive" aspie stereotypes (which are as harmful as the negative ones IMO) myths, elitism, intellectual snobbery and speculation. In fact....I don't think it should be taken seriously at all.

With the kind of mentality implied (even if it IS tongue-in-cheek here....enough aspies truly believe the elitist crap) it's very easy to see how the formerly oppressed can become the oppressors.

I wonder who the "neurotypical" bullies would be if aspies magickally became the majority tomorrow?

4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 13 don't apply to me in the least.

As far as I know....Akroyd is self-diagnosed and the evidence to suggest Einstein was an aspie is insufficient.

I like 4 and 13 a lot. Usually I have a sophisticated vocabulary, and it's even better when it comes to writing.

ASD folks have families, houses and jobs. That is not a deciding factor in life.

When our expectations are in order and we make honest efforts along right lines, good things can come.

I can identify with pretty much everything in that list. I do enjoy being able to take part in intellectual conversations that are beyond the comprehension of others my age; and I take pride in my sophisticated vocabulary. I also love the way I can acquire vast amounts of knowledge on any particular topic that interests me.

As for #15, I haven't heard that phrase (insert noun here rules, insert other noun here drools) since the '90s.

You can still have these things as an Aspergian. You don't have have to be a neurotypical to have a family, house, or job.
