I can't tell who they are.
I tell people apart from their avatars. I have to relearn the person all over again by their avatar, and sometimes I've even forgotten what their previous avatar was to even remember what their name was to compare to the new avatar.

I wish people didn't change their avatars, but there's nothing I can do :( It's me vs the internet.

It's OK if it's been a forum I've been using for like a year, because I learn the names, but it takes a while.

Mine won't be changed for a long a time I think.

I found the fitting one.

Despite of how idiotic it might look to most.

Haha I think it's funny. I quite like aliens :) I suppose it's because I feel like an alien and I was dropped off here at birth and have been trying to adapt to human nature, but it hasn't worked so well. I like Katy Perry - E.T. for that reason xD

Same here, I have no idea who they are unless they change it to another picture of their face...that's why I always use my face as my avatar, I'm not ashamed of it and I don't mind it being on the web and at least everyone always knows who I am :)

I don't know how to change my avatar. I have tried before, but I can't seem to work the sizing or something, so I've given up, but I imagine people are used to seeing me as a random Yogi Bear that I've become kind of attached to it and think I'll stick with it ><

I'd stick to Yogi, it's like a trademark, did you used to have it in 2009? Just because I remember a Yogi bear on the forums from back then

I change my avatar all the time, but I always stick to the same theme.

Edit: I've read what you said and can understand that it can be confusing if you don't remember a certain user name. There's a thread that people post in when they change their avatar. Looking in there sometimes might help. I'm sure you will remember names though, once you spend more time here.

I change mine to reflect emotion but return to my normal avatar when the extremes have passed. I know what you are saying though.

Nope I'm brand new to the forums as dated to the side <<< :) A friend introduced me to the forums, since I mainly wanted to learn more about Autism and Aspergers and didn't know much about it, but now that I'm learning about it, I actually think I may have Mild Aspergers myself. I'm definitely not self-diagnosing though. I'm gonna ask my psychiatrist about it in October and what to do next or whatever if she doesn't know anything about it.

Oh, avatars are up to the users preference I guess.

I have no plans for changing mine though

Perhaps you could create you own visual image to attach to each username? Like for example no matter what my avatar is, one could conjure up an image of a yellow monkey when they see my username. Or the person who posted before me, you could think of a bat, err...:)

I feel bad for changing my avatar all the time, but I get tired of looking at the same picture every day. Also, my avatar always reflects which fictional character I feel particularly attached to at a given time, which can change as often as every day. Throughout 2010 and 2011 my favorite character was more or less consistently the Mad Hatter from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and that seems to have made an impression on a lot of WP members, because people have told me that they still associate me with it even though I've been through countless avatar changes since. I'm considering going back to it. :chin:
