Hi, I am a mild aspie person just trying to fit in socially at work and life. I have a minor speech delay caused by neurological wiring and lack of intonation, that my therapist says may lead to people getting the wrong impression about myself in these situations. She recommended a speech pathologist, but I already had one try with me in the past to work it out, but she says that she can only help me so much. Something must be done about my lack of intonation and if not, I need to emphasize a better quality to compensate for my lack of intonation.

I'd try another therapist--we all learn in different ways--sometimes you just need to find someone who thinks similarly to the way you do!

Alternately, knowing that you are an Aspie, you can work together to develop a therapy that will work for you--perhaps putting your ideas in writing.

No need to worry about speech intonation here. Have a good time browsing and socialising on Wrong Planet.

I want to because I need to socialize face-to-face and try to make a better impression on people. Maybe I need to explain my problem to others instead.

Hi, Alki.
Have you ever considered taking singing lessons?
Singing is very much about intonation.
Actors do it to improve their speech, including intonation.
Just a thought.
